Making a pattern for a collar on a dress
The work begins with creating a pattern. First we need to take the necessary measurements. They depend on the model of the collar being created. There are several types - stand, cascade and transformer, which can be used as a hood. We will perform the second type, it is the most popular and looks very elegant.
Important! The height depends on your desire. It can vary from 15 to 25 centimeters. But the more voluminous the product, the better it will lie and look more elegant.
The easiest way to create a pattern and sew it is with an equilateral rectangle. Take your piece of fabric and fold it in half at a 45° angle. Using tape, measure the length of the back and front sides of the neckline. Set this measurement along the fold line. Then mark half the height of the collar at a right angle. On each side, add 7 mm for allowances.
Technology of sewing and sewing a collar to the main product
Next to us it is necessary to carry out wet-heat treatment of the resulting part. Having laid it out on the ironing board, we go over the fold with an iron and steam, slightly pulling the fabric. This will help create beautiful waves in the finished product. Further:
- Sew the seam from the wrong side, making a bevel to the junction with the dress by 1-1.5 cm and iron it.
- Baste or pin to the neckline so that the seam is in the center of the back.
- Machine stitch, overlay or zigzag.
- Sew along the edge of the neckline to a width of 2-3 mm.
- Iron lightly. That's it, our product is ready.
This is the simplest technology, but the end result is excellent. For beginning craftswomen, the best option is to create a stylish and elegant detail that will decorate any item.
