How to make a tutu skirt with your own hands
You can sew a fluffy tutu skirt in a couple of hours. Multi-layering gives it a special effect. A tutu skirt must have at least 10 layers of tulle.
1. The easiest way to make an elegant skirt for a little daughter does not even require the ability to sew. You need to prepare:
- wide elastic band;
- tulle, which is sold in narrow rolls 10-15 cm wide.
First, measure the girl’s waist, cut the desired length of elastic. You need to calculate it so that the product does not put pressure on the waist, but is not too loose, otherwise it will go down to the hips.
Decide how long the skirt will be, cut the tulle into narrow strips, the length of which should be twice the length of the product.
Important! With this manufacturing method, the skirt can be made plain or variegated. To do this, buy several rolls of tulle of different colors.
The most interesting thing remains: the tulle strips need to be folded in half and tied to an elastic band one by one. Try to place them as close to each other as possible - this will make the skirt more voluminous. By alternating stripes of different colors, you can get a variegated model.
2. Another way will require the needlewoman to have a sewing machine. A classic model can be sewn for a young fashionista or an adult girl.
Prepare:
- For each layer, the fabric is 4 times longer than the waist circumference, and the number of layers will depend on how fluffy you want to sew the skirt.
- For the cover - about 2 m of denser fabric - satin, satin or cotton.

- Zip closure. It can be replaced with an elastic band inserted into the belt.
To get a very full skirt, you need to manually make folds on each layer of fabric. For a softer shape, fold all layers of tulle together and make common folds. Sew the resulting mesh tapes with a straight stitch, retreating 2 cm from the edge.
A little higher, with your machine set to the longest stitch length, sew a basting stitch, then pull it down until the length is about 1 cm longer than your waist circumference. If you do not plan to insert a zipper into the skirt, you should skip this step.
Combine all layers of tulle with lining fabric, from which you first need to sew a simple cover. Insert the zipper. All that remains is to sew on the belt.
We knit an elegant top for a girl (crocheted or knitted)
The fluffy tulle skirt can be worn alone or paired with a knitted top to create a cute dress for girls. The easiest way is to knit a straight top “pipe” with any pattern.
To make it seamless, you need to knit in a circle, having previously measured the baby's breast volume. Any knitted fabric tends to stretch, so you need to calculate the width of the product so that the top is not too loose.
