We sew a New Year's outfit for a girl
Option 1. With a sun skirt
- We take all the necessary measurements, adding reliefs with darts. Based on them, a circle skirt pattern is made.
- We cover the material with sickle tape. Cut out the corset. Leave seam allowances of approximately one centimeter. We also take into account that we will need to attach the fastener bar. May need padding.
- Place the lining and corset together and connect. After turning the product inside out, add fasteners, ties, or insert a zipper using basting.
- The “sun” made of satin and fabric, like organza, is cut out very simply, taking into account previous measurements. Then we connect the lower skirt with a frill to the upper one.
- After gathering the product, sew in a transparent fluffy “sun” on an elastic band.
- Finish and decorate the edges.
- When all the parts are connected and stitched, you can use artificial or fabric flowers for decoration.
Option 2. “Snowflake” costume.
A budget option. Rarely simple cut. We can do without using a sewing machine, if it is not at hand.
To work you will need tulle 3 by 3 m. Preferably medium density. It will go on a pack. As well as any type of stretch fabric 1.5 m long and 0.35 m wide. Better not too thin.
Tutu
- Let's prepare 50 rectangular tulle pieces.
- Cut the tulle into rectangles 0.2 by 0.5 m. Having measured the waist, cut a piece of elastic of the required length and sew the ends together. At the same time, do not forget to add 4 centimeters to the waist circumference so that it is not butted.
- Using simple knitting needles we make loops. This is usually taught in school during labor lessons.
- Folding the section for the skirt in half, we get its length - 25 cm.
- We thread two ends into the loop. So we attach the tulle to the elastic band while there is still free space on it.
IMPORTANT! We do not tighten the strips to avoid kinks.
The pack is done.
Top
Let's start with the top part. We decide on its height and fold the material in half.
- It is better to take a longer stretch piece so that the front and back are one piece. This simple method will save us time. No need to sew shoulder seams. All you have to do is cut a hole for the head.
- We lower the waist line a little lower. It looks better this way.
- We sew the resulting T-shirt with wide shoulders on the sides.
- At the end we assemble the sleeves in the manner of lanterns. The fabric stretches, so it will be easy.
- Decorate the neckline with pleated lace.
- Turning up the edges of the sleeves, stitch by hand. At the same time we attach tinsel along the neckline.
ATTENTION! This type of finish must be soft to the touch. Otherwise joy the child will be spoiled by discomfort.
It should be sewn not to the edge, but along the surface. Then the young, delicate skin will not come into contact with the sharp decoration.
Decor
Let's start with the decor. A wide matching satin ribbon can replace a belt if necessary. We sew rhinestones in the center of the neckline. Preferably not too small, medium in size. We cover the tutu, like a real ballerina, with snowflakes.
Minimum investment of time and effort. The work is done.
Option 3. Herringbone costume
We create a sundress template on a large sheet of any paper or newspaper. If you already have one of these in your wardrobe, then It’s easier to outline its outline with a soft pencil.
The basis
- We pin the cut out template shape with needles or pins to a dense green material.
- We make preparations.
- We sew the front and back.
- We bend the edges and decorate them with white, green or any suitable color lace. Or soft tinsel. Rubber snowflakes and stars cut out of foil are suitable for the hem. You can add small plastic or fabric Christmas tree decorations to the front side. Silver adhesive rhinestones will create a sparkling frost effect.
Dress decoration
Every girl dreams of being the most beautiful at the holiday. It's up to you to please her.
Possible decorative elements:
- satin ribbons;
- fabric, knitted, made from ribbons and paper, artificial flowers;
- rhinestones (sewn, glued);
- rubber or thin plastic snowflakes;
- tinsel of different colors and thicknesses;
- velvet or glossy paper for pasting cardboard hats;
- small cones, spruce branches made of soft materials.
Using various design methods, let your imagination run wild. Your masterpiece will definitely be original and unique.
Tips for sewing a New Year's dress for a girl
Are you planning to create a fancy dress costume for your beloved child on your own? Don't forget to ask your daughter which one she wants. After all, tiny fashionistas are just as careful about their clothes as adults. What can I say if there is almost a real ball coming up?
- It is customary to divide toilets for holiday matinees, trips to the Christmas tree, etc. into three categories: for ages from two to six years, from seven to eleven and above. Teenage carnival outfits are already similar to adults.
- You need to choose a style, taking into account your figure. For example, to prevent a chubby girl from visually gaining excess weight, you should not choose an overly fluffy skirt or bell-shaped clothes.
- If your little one dreams of transforming herself into a fairy-tale Snow Queen, a gypsy girl or a doll, it would be a good idea to choose accessories. They can be a glamorous handbag for the necessary little things, a tiara or a hoop with butterflies on springs, a bright headband to match the dress. Or a handcrafted crown; light and delicate jewelry and more.
- Winter is on the street. Don't forget about a short fur coat with 3/4 sleeves, a matching jacket or a fur bolero. Otherwise, the outcome of the holiday will be sad. And it’s not comfortable to freeze at the ball either.
- A hat-clip will remove unruly strands and add sophistication to the look. They look especially elegant with a veil. It could be a large flower on a clip with a round veil.
- It's not just fairies and queens who enjoy success at children's holiday balls. Tastefully dressed foxes, cats, bees, Cinderellas, Snow Maidens, butterflies, Malvina or Barbie, fresh flowers, pirates, girls from oriental fairy tales, Mashenka and goldfish will also not go unnoticed.
Once upon a time, mothers tried to decorate masquerade clothes for their children with something bright and shiny. Nowadays, sophistication and lightness, delicate lace along the hem, openwork sewing, luxurious simplicity are in fashion. The possibilities have become wider. We just have to take advantage of this. But we will treasure our cardboard crowns and silver foil stars on hospital gauze with nostalgia and gratitude. Everything made by mother’s loving hands remains priceless.
