Chair-clothing battles continue on the Internet. A mess or not a mess? And if not on a chair, then where? You will be surprised, but this can also be a problem. And also - is this harmful to clothes? In the midst of a fierce battle, bearded Old Believers appear, reminiscent of the folk signs associated with this action. Well, since people are so concerned about this, let’s try to figure it out.
Why you shouldn't leave clothes on the back of a chair
Yes, right away, we start with a categorical “no.” Most disputes lead to this, because there are a lot of arguments. And basically they come down to three.
Mystical reason: sign prohibits
This argument is simple. Either you unconditionally believe in omens, or you don’t - then skip this point and move on to the next one.
If you are still here, then here is what information I have on this issue. According to various sources, folk omens speak of two misfortunes:
- loss of money;
- loss of suitors.
Which problem is greater is up to you to decide. But if you are afraid one day you won’t hear the rustling of paper in your wallet (you can replace it with the clinking of coins or a signal of successful payment with a bank card) or the serenades of grooms under the window - quickly remove your clothes from the back of the chair!
Realistic reason: more clothes - order less
This point is a little more complicated, since the disputants are faced with a philosophical question - what is a mess? And this is where opinions differ radically. For some, clothes on a chair (provided the environment is clean) is order, for others it is not order at all.
And why? And most importantly: where, if not on a chair? Into the cupboard? But there are clean, ironed clothes hanging there! You can’t hang the jeans you’ve worn all day there anymore. What if you took the item for a short time, say, for half a day or even for a couple of hours? If the closet is small, constantly moving clothes back and forth will sooner or later wrinkle them.
Not everyone sees the point in throwing clothes that have only been worn for one day into the wash. And not everyone has enough clothes to change their wardrobe every day, according to style rules. There remains only an intermediate option between the closet and the laundry in the form of the back of a chair, a kind of “purgatory” in the life of things.
But there is the following reinforced concrete argument for this.
Important! Clothes tend to accumulate on a chair. And over time, it turns into a shapeless pile, which certainly has nothing to do with order.
And raking through this pile of things during cleaning becomes a whole ritual. That's why It’s better to empty your closet of unnecessary things (so that it’s not scary to hang something you’ve worn there) and leave the unfortunate chair alone.
Practical reason: harmful to clothing
Continuing the topic of taking care of things, it’s worth recalling one more thing. No matter how carefully you hang your clothes on a chair, they will still wrinkle more than on a hanger.. And even more so if you put one thing on top of another.
This is especially true for business suits. For example, even if you hang your trousers on a rectangular back, there may be a crease at the fold where you will have to work with an iron. Folding your trousers on the seat will create even more creases. Well, by hanging them on a round or oval back, you will get folds of the most unpredictable shapes.
The same goes for the jacket.
Reference! The shoulders are called that because they are close to the anatomy of the shoulders. This allows the jacket to maintain its shape. The back of the chair cannot help with this.
Special hangers for those who can’t get rid of a bad habit
No matter how much I describe all this, there will always be people for whom such arguments, for one reason or another, do not matter. Then all that remains is to adapt to their desires.
Designers do this very cleverly. Don't want to damage your clothes? Here is the back in the shape of a hanger. No chair at all? Here are the hangers in the form of backs!
I hung it, I hang it and will hang it on the back of a chair, it’s so convenient for me.
And me.
Oh well. How is the shape of the crossbar for trousers on a hanger in a closet different from the back of a chair? Nothing? So why will there be “creases” on the back, but not on the hanger?
Sergey, if you hang trousers on the bar of a hanger, exactly the same creases can form on them. To avoid this, use hangers with clothespins.
There’s nothing to argue about... There’s no arguing about tastes, and there’s no point in arguing about convenience either... Either another closet, or five chairs... The choice is ours! There is also a third option.. Have a good mood everyone!
The clothes on the back of the chair instantly give away pig lovers. And yes, of course, signs work in this case: such a girl will have practically no suitors (who wants to live with a pig? Only the same pig), and pigs usually have problems with money - they don’t hold on to good positions. Including because of their appearance - clothes hanging for weeks on the back of a chair (which is not intended for this at all) become wrinkled and lose their appearance. And if the pig also uses this chair for its intended purpose, the result is generally terrible. A normal person wouldn’t hang clothes that weren’t very clean in a closet either. I bought myself special clothes racks a long time ago - they look neat and are specially designed for clothes, so they don’t wrinkle
