Scarves come in different varieties: blue, yellow, red, made from all kinds of materials and with different patterns. But have you ever wondered where you first started using a scarf?
Historians believe that the scarf is about two thousand years old. To confirm these words, archaeologists in 1974, while doing excavations in China, discovered the burial of Emperor Qin Shi Chuan Di, which contained 7,500 thousand figures of warriors. They were made of terracotta, and there were scarves around the necks of these warriors. But in those days the word “scarf” did not yet exist. It was simply a cloth that people tied around their necks to protect themselves from the cold.
Did you know that the scarf was originally an attribute of a military uniform. It was used to distinguish which military unit a particular officer belonged to. This element was worn only by military personnel and only over the shoulder. In Ancient Egypt, the Roman Empire and the Russian Imperial Army, the scarf was decorated with tassels and various embroideries - all to make it clear which officer or soldier was standing in front of the ruler.
When Louis IV came to rule, he introduced the neckerchief as a fashion accessory as part of the nobility.
Nowadays the variety of scarves is very large. In cold winter or autumn weather, a warm knitted scarf will come in handy: it will warm you, hide you from the wind and prevent you from getting sick. There is also a summer option that will protect you in the sultry heat, and also add sophistication to your look in different clothing styles.
Now let's talk about models. In fact, there are a lot of varieties of this accessory, let’s talk about some of them:
And finally, I’ll tell you about silk scarves. This little wardrobe item will probably never go out of style. How stylish it looks on the neck and adds elegance to the chosen look!
It is noteworthy that the neckerchief appeared in the Middle Ages in France.During the reign of Louis XIV, the experimental monarch introduced the wearing of neck scarves among the nobility at the legislative level. Only men and only nobles had the right to wear this accessory. Over time, great military personnel gained the right to decorate their uniform with a lace neck accessory. King Sun ordered that 12 different scarves be sewn for him for all occasions, and even created the position of a butler so that he would be responsible for the safety of this detail of the image.
And concluding my article about this unique, elegant and stylish accessory, I would like to add that every person has the opportunity to choose a wonderful scarf that will complement the impeccable image of its owner.
