All women dream of being protected from frost by a beautiful and stylish fur coat in winter. But they don’t think about what the real price of these items of clothing is. The animal is subjected to excruciating torture when killed. Now it is possible to buy a fur coat made of faux fur, which in terms of its appearance and frost resistance is in no way inferior to natural fur coats, but saves hundreds of thousands of lives of animals.
Types of fur coats by type of manufacture
Products are divided into natural and artificial. It is clear that women prefer natural, noble fur, but what is the cost of cruelty to animals?
Fur is the skin of an animal, mainly from the family of mustelids, cats, rodents and lagomorphs. Such products are divided into smooth or fluffy. Such fur has long been used for sewing warm outer clothing, which, first of all, protected from cold and frost. It also showed the high status and position of the person who owned the fur item.
pros such fur are obvious:
- provides warmth and comfort in cold weather;
- due to innovative manufacturing methods, products have become more delicate, light and soft, as the technique of cutting and artificial dressing of natural fur began to be used;
- beauty and chic of fur clothing.
Faux fur is made from textiles that closely imitate natural fur. The composition consists of a primer made of knitwear or artificial leather, onto which a special pile made of chemical or natural textile raw materials is attached.
Faux fur is made on weaving machines or knitted on knitting machines; it can also be stitched (tufted, which is made on loop machines with the formation of loops of lint or with an applied unnatural lint).
How are fur coats made?
The first thing they do is kill the animal. At the second stage, they begin to process their skins.
Manufacturing process:
- Flesh - This is the process of collecting subcutaneous fat and removing it completely. Because of this, the skin becomes much thinner and smoother. Fat is removed using special chemicals and devices. To begin with, the product is soaked and all fatty layers and folds are well removed, after which it is treated with tannins. And again they clean and process it again.
- Depilation is a process in which all excess hair is removed from the skin. This product becomes smooth and elastic. If a fur coat is made from long-haired animals, then the hair is trimmed.
- Toning and discoloration of the product to paint it a different color. Another method is to simply tint certain areas of the skin.
All these manipulations make it possible to produce a luxurious product that will cost a lot of money.
How are mink coats made?
Minks are considered pliable animals, but with character. Such animals are very easy to breed. Fur looks luxurious and noble. It is also one of the most inexpensive natural fur products that suits absolutely everyone.
Mechanism for making a mink coat:
- skins are sorted by color and fur length;
- cut out equal parts and number them, then sew them together;
- outline the silhouette and patterns, and cut along the intended contour, thanks to a pneumatic gun;
- the seams are dyed to match the color of the fur and dried;
- then the skin is transferred to a pattern, after which the pieces are cut out and the fur coat is collected;
- sewn with a special sewing machine and cleaned with chemicals;
- ironed with a special steam iron and small details are sewn on.
After these manipulations, the product can be displayed in shop windows.
How arctic fox coats are made
Arctic foxes are also made in the same way as mink coats, the only thing is that the arctic fox is a noble animal and a fur coat made from it will look simply chic and very expensive.
On a note!
Arctic fox coats are more expensive than mink coats.
The Arctic fox has long fur, and a shearing process is added to the standard tailoring of a mink coat if the product has short pile. The fur is also treated with a special product for shine and softness.
How are faux fur coats made?
Faux fur is now popular in most countries. It is made on specialized weaving looms, machines and karakul laying machines.
This fur contains a pile and a base. In order to make a fur coat you need:
- to produce artificial fur, which is equal to two lengths of the future artificial pile, soil containing strong fibers is stirred;
- these fibers are firmly and tightly intertwined with a thin pile cloth, and a multi-layer fabric is obtained between two ground cloths;
- then cut the resulting fabric in half, the pile will be the same length;
- the reverse side is treated with glue.
Each type of faux fur has its own properties and production technology.
