Beach tunics for obese women

Women, whom nature has endowed with natural fullness, with the right approach to choosing a product, can hide flaws with a successful style and emphasize the advantages.

For those with wide hips, it is better to choose a loose cut with draperies below the waist. This way you can emphasize the waist and hide the heavy bottom.

For girls who have a problem area - the stomach - options with a high waist and a belt are suitable. With this cut you can effectively highlight your bust.

How to sew a tunic yourself

What can you make a tunic from? The main question when deciding to sew a tunic yourself remains the material from which it can be made. The appearance and duration of use will depend on the material.

  • Lace. Stylish option. Light material will not cause discomfort, the main thing is to choose a quality product.
  • Chiffon. It's barely noticeable when worn and dries instantly, which is important for the beach.Colored tunics made from this material look especially interesting. But, unfortunately, chiffon is easily subject to snags.
  • Cotton. The material perfectly absorbs moisture. Bright elements on the fabric perfectly complement the look.
  • Guipure. The composition often contains synthetic fibers, which gives the product a not very high-quality appearance.
  • Silk. Lightweight, flowing material that is highly breathable. Silk products are guaranteed to decorate any girl. However, you should be careful - silk products do not like excessive decorations.

ATTENTION! To sew a good quality beach tunic, you need to use a material that is not afraid of moisture and does not fade. You can first purchase a small piece, wash and dry it. If the sample has not lost its appearance and size, then you can safely sew a tunic from this material.

It is important to determine the length of the product at the beginning of work. The amount of material needed will depend on this. The main measurements we will need are the length of the product and the width of the dress.

An elementary option for making a beach tunic

Simple tunic

You will need a piece of fabric measuring 150*65 cm. Fold the material in half and bend one upper corner. We make a drawstring and thread a lace from the same material. We sew the lace from a piece of material measuring 3*50 cm.

This product is simply wrapped around the figure. This pattern will make it easy and practical to use.

ATTENTION! It is better to sew such a tunic from a material in which the cuts do not fray. Or you can double hem all the edges of the tunic to prevent the material from fraying.

Half-sun beach tunic

Tunic sunThe basis of this model is a semicircle. In order to sew this product, you need to prepare a square piece of material 150*150 cm.We fold this square in half, resulting in a rectangular fabric 150*75 cm. The fold of the fabric should be on top. Then you need to fold the material again to make a square.

The corner of the folded material is the neck, cut it in the shape of a semicircle. It is recommended to start with a small piece of material. Because if necessary, you can always cut off more.

The product is almost ready. There are only a few steps left: determine the armhole and work out the cut lines. For the armhole, we fold the fabric into a rectangle measuring 150*75 cm. From the edge of the neck along the fold you need to move 5 cm, then another 20 cm. This distance (15 cm) is our armhole. Next, you need to process the cut lines and you're done!

ATTENTION! The amount of material for the manufacture of this product directly depends on the desired length. If the length of the product is greater (for example, 90 cm), then the height of the fabric is 180 cm - that is, 2 lengths!

The process of creating a product is as simple as possible. First you need to take 3 measurements:

  1. Measure the distance between your elbows in centimeters, spreading your arms to the sides.
  2. Measure the required length of the product by measuring down from the shoulder line.
  3. Measure your hip circumference.

Poncho pattern

Let's do some simple calculations before we get started.

For example, hip circumference – 95 cm. Product length – 90 cm. Drawstring – 2 pcs. 3 cm each, + 3 cm for loose fit. This means that the length of the canvas should be 95+6+3=104 cm*180 cm (2 lengths).

Cutting and sewing steps step by step:

  1. We fold the canvas measuring 104*180 in half (necessarily facing inward) and get a canvas of 104*90 cm. We mark the center of the canvas - this will be the middle of our tunic.
  2. Mark the neck and cut a hole for it. The neck can be round, square or triangular. Each product should be based on individual preferences.
  3. We edge the cut neckline with bias tape from the same or another decorative fabric.
  4. We find side drawstrings, leaving room for hands.
  5. From the edge of the canvas 104*90 cm, stepping back ¼ of the hip circumference, mark the first drawstring of 3 cm, then marking ½ of the hip circumference, mark the second drawstring of 3 cm.
  6. At this stage, it is important to try on the product and outline the waistline. From the wrong side along the waist line we sew a wide ribbon. We stretch a cord into the ribbon - it will serve as a belt for the tunic.
  7. The side drawstrings can be sewn together or left free. In any of the options, an excellent summer outfit will look great on the owner.

This is how very simple and easy even a beginner can make a great summer outfit for the beach with his own hands. The finished product will be unique, it will certainly not leave anyone indifferent. In it you will shine all summer season. We are sure that using the provided pattern you will be able to make an irreplaceable summer item!
