Knitted gloves are a very practical and versatile accessory. After all, knitwear is not a “capricious” material: after deformation or washing, the gloves will not lose their shape and will look neat, while warming your hands. Every person who tries to dress stylishly should have a pair of gloves like this. After all, they will suit any look - simply, but tastefully. Of course, you can go to the store and find your perfect pair there. But you must admit that it will be doubly pleasant if you sew this accessory with your own hands, because hand-made things carry a special warmth.
How to make a knitted glove pattern
Anyone who has never done sewing or pattern making and is doing it for the first time can do this. Everything will work out if you believe in yourself. To create a pattern we will need:
- thick paper/cardboard
- pencil or pen
- our hand
Place your hand on a sheet of thick paper and trace it with a pencil. The main thing is that the line is clear and continuous.Using the template of our hand, we model the glove: we make a dart in the space between the thumb and expand the wrist circumference line for comfortable wearing. The pattern is ready. All that remains is to cut out the template without any allowance (with gloves the allowances are minimal). And cut off the set-in thumb.
How to sew gloves from knitwear
We place the pattern on the knitted fabric and trace the resulting sample, making a very small allowance. At the same time, we make sure that when applying the outline to the fabric, the parts do not move. We cut out parts for two hands from fabric, including parts for the thumbs. When basting a pattern on fabric, lengthen the product as desired.
Important! When stitching together fragments, paying attention to the stitching: it is done very narrowly towards the edge of the knitwear, literally 3 mm from the edge.
We pin the parts together for ease of stitching the product. We carefully wash the parts of the gloves together. Before sewing the parts together on a machine, use soap to mark the place for the part, for the thumb on both sides. We sew these fragments with very thin seams, without touching the marked area for the thumb. Since knitwear stretches well when sewing, we stretch the fabric a little.
Next, we sew on the thumb piece. And then we sew together fragments for each finger on a machine: first on the sides, and then on the tip. We also process the edge of the product. We do the same actions with the blank for the other hand. We have created wonderful knitted gloves that are designed specifically for your hand.
