Tying a knot is an ancient ritual that has been interpreted in many ways. For example, some people tied a knot and always kept the towel in this form in the house - it served as some kind of home talisman that protected the room from evil spirits and negative energy. Also, some tied a knot before some important task. It is important to silently tie a towel and hide it so that no one sees, after which you can safely go about your business and untie the knot when you return.
Important! In these rituals, a towel made only from natural fabrics is always used. It is better not to use any synthetics or other materials - the ritual will not work, and it may, on the contrary, work in a negative direction. Also, the towel cannot be used in everyday life; in the future, it can only be used for the corresponding ritual.
How to do it correctly
According to ancient beliefs, the type of knot is absolutely not important if a person plans to perform a protective ritual, the most important thing is the process. In fact, the whole meaning lies in some magical mystery. No one should know about the process itself - the towel should be securely hidden from prying eyes.
Perhaps this is done to avoid evil tongues and condemnation from non-superstitious people, or it was done so that evil spirits could not find the towel and untie the knot. You can find information that when tying a knot you need to whisper various spells, but this is not confirmed.
The most correct decision would be to silently tie a knot and try to put a piece of your energy into it.
Features of the ritual
As already mentioned, there are many meanings of such a ritual; it was used by many peoples of the world. Basically, of course, the Slavs tied the knots. The Egyptians also performed a similar ritual at the funerals of loved ones. Among the Orthodox, after a funeral, the reciter of funeral prayers was given a towel on which lay the Psalter. After the person was buried, the cloth was torn and given to the poor.
In the modern world, this custom has taken on the meaning of some New Year's ritual. The second of January is celebrated the day of St. Ignatius the God-Bearer. It is on this day that it is customary to tie knots - it is believed that in this way you can attract happiness and success in the coming year. You can also read some spells, of which there are many examples. However, this is completely unwelcome; it is better to do everything silently.
