How to make bed sheet holders with your own hands

Bed linen made of thin, soft material looks beautiful. For a duvet cover and pillowcase, this is really an advantage. And if the sheet is made of smooth and thin fabric, there is an almost 100% guarantee that it will roll and bunch up. Especially if the surface of the mattress is made of sliding materials and a restless person sleeps on it. Changing the sheets several times a night is very troublesome.

How can you secure a sheet?

All methods of fixing a sheet can be divided into two categories:

• fixation using threads, pins, ribbons;
• use of special holders.

The sheet can be sewn to the mattress using hand stitches. This method is inconvenient due to the fact that each time before washing the stitches must be undone and clean linen must be sewn again. Using Velcro pieces sewn to the mattress and sheets is not durable. Velcro will withstand a maximum of 2-3 washes.

Sometimes bed linen is fixed using metal clothespins for curtains “crocodile clips” or binders, stationery clips for papers, stocking clips.

How to make holders at home?

If it is not possible to buy ready-made holders with clamps, then you can make them yourself:

1. Ribbons or ribbons can be used as fastenings. They are sewn mirror image along the edge of the sheet and to the mattress. They will last as long as bed linen, they are easy to fix while you sleep, and there are no problems when removing them for washing.
2. It is convenient to sew ribbons only to the edge of the sheet around the perimeter. Having straightened and stretched it, you should tie the ribbons under the mattress, and the sheet fabric will not slip.
3. The most common and comfortable way is use an elastic band threaded through the drawstring. To do this, sew a strip of fabric along the edge, folded in half so that there is a hole left for threading the elastic.
