How to crochet a rug from old sheets

Stages of work:

2. Fold the future rug at an angle as if you were going to make a square. Draw a perpendicular line where the fabric crease intersects.

3. Use a ruler to connect the lower right corner with the top point of the drawn line. The result is a line at an angle of 45 degrees.

4. Parallel to the oblique line to the right and left, draw lines at a distance of 2.5 cm to the end.

5. Sew the line along all oblique lines.

6. Make cuts between the lines at the same angle, without touching the bottom one.

The result is a bright fluffy rug that should be glued on the sides. You can safely wash it in a machine without fear that the threads will start to roll.

Rug woven from sheets

If you don’t know how to sew or knit, a simpler option is suitable for you - you probably know how to braid, so you can handle this job without difficulty.

For production you will need thick fabric for the base, scraps of sheets, fabric glue, tape.

Stages of work:

1. Cut the sheets into long, narrow stripsso that their length is 6-7 cm longer than the length of the base.
2. Separate the strips into three pieces and braid each one, leaving a little space at the end. To prevent the braids from unraveling prematurely, secure the ends with tape.
3. When all the braids are woven, apply a thick layer of glue to the base and begin laying the braids in parallel rows as close as possibleso that there are no gaps between them. Press down to make it stick better.
4. Go along the sides with a needle and thread to secure the ends of the braids, leaving the fringe unbraided..
5. Remove the tape and trim the fringe.

The rug is ready and can be laid in the designated area.

Round woven from sheets

If you have an abandoned children's hoop or hula hoop and old sheets at home, you can weave a round rug. No other materials are needed.

Stages of work:

1. Cut the sheets into strips so that they are twice the diameter of the hoop.
2. Pull the first strip onto the hoop vertically, tying it at the center. Do not stretch the fabric too much so that the rug does not shrink later.
3. Pull the second strip of the sheet strictly horizontally.
4. Continue pulling the stripes, dividing the hoop into equal sectors. All base lines should intersect in the center of the circle.
5. Start weaving by securing a strip of fabric to one of the crossbars. Pass it in a circle, drawing it inside the base strips. Press each subsequent row tightly against the previous one so that there are no gaps or show-throughs.
6. Extend the strip by tying the next one to it until you reach the desired height of the rug.
7. Cut the base strips near the circle and tie them into knots.

Oval woven from sheets

For this rug we will need the braids already seen above, we just need to make them tighter. To do this, we will need strips of sheets 5 cm wide and an oval frame made of thick fabric onto which we will sew our braids.

Stages of work:

1. We fold each strip of sheet so that both cut parts are in the middle. Iron it.
2. We fold each folded ribbon in half and iron it again.
3. We divide the resulting braid into three strips and braid it into braids.
4. Lay out the first braid in half in the center of the wide side, leaving space on the sides for braiding.. We sew the braids together in the middle and tie them to the base with threads.
5. We fly over the first layer of the rug, the second, the third, etc., until we fill the entire base.
6. We grab the braids along the edges along with the base so that they hold well.
