The word “curtain” came into the Russian language back in 1710 from German. But the reality that this word describes existed in Rus' even earlier, and it was simply called a curtain. And even now the words “curtain” or “curtain” are heard more often than “curtain”. However, in this case, the name plays an insignificant role; our task is to hang curtains, curtains, and thereby decorate the window. Now let's get down to business.
- Take all the necessary tools and materials listed above, as well as the components of the cornice.
- Mark the attachment points with a pencil (above the window opening). This must be done using a building level.
- Drill holes at the marked points and drive dowels or moths into them (depending on the wall material).
- Using a drill, screw the screws into the dowels, tightening the fastening element of the bracket.
- Screw the base of the bracket onto the fastening element and then completely assemble it.
- Then attach the curtain rod and hang rings with hooks or curtain pegs.

How to attach a ceiling curtain
Most often, baguette or profile cornices are hung on the ceiling. With their help, you will be able to hide the fastening of the curtain, and it will fall in waves right from under the beautiful cornice. By the way, attaching a curtain to the ceiling is even easier than to the wall.
First, let's look at the general principle of fastening, and then consider the nuances.
- Using a level, mark the line for placing the cornice on the ceiling.
- Attach it to the ceiling and mark with a pencil the locations for drilling holes (the products already have holes, you just need to transfer their location to the ceiling).
- Drill holes at the marked points and drive dowels into them.
- Place the cornice against the ceiling and use a screw and drill to attach it to the ceiling by screwing the fasteners into the dowels.

Attaching to drywall
Attaching curtains to drywall occurs in the same way. The only, and very important, difference is that instead of dowels you need to use moles - special dowels for drywall. It is also worth taking the screws a little longer: this way the structure will be more reliable if the screw reaches the brick through the drywall.
Be sure to take into account that you are attaching the curtain to drywall - calculate its weight along with the cornice to give the optimal load.
Fastening for suspended ceilings
In this case, there are several ways to hang curtains and still leave the suspended ceilings intact.
Important! With a suspended ceiling, you can only attach the cornice to the wall.
You can hang a classic round curtain rod on the wall directly above the window. But if you really want to imitate the ceiling look, use special L-shaped brackets with a rail or string rod. They are mounted on the wall very close to the ceiling (a distance of 5–7 mm remains). This gives the impression that the curtains are hung from the ceiling. In this case, the method of fastening does not differ from the standard one.

- Accurate calculations. “Measure twice, cut once” - this rule is appropriate in this case. Before drilling holes for fasteners, check the markings several times using a ruler and level.
- Calculate the correct distance from the wall. This must be done before purchasing curtains and cornices. It is necessary to take into account how much the window sill protrudes from the wall and the depth of the folds of the curtains. Also take into account the length of the curtain.
