Clothing in the boho style wins the sympathy of the fair half of humanity every year. She is beautiful, original, and in addition, she is able to hide some figure defects. It can be purchased at a store or shopping center. But there is another option: create it yourself. Often all it takes is to go through your closet, use your imagination and spend some time on creativity.
How to make new clothes out of old clothes in boho style
A good half of a woman’s wardrobe “vegetates” on shelves for years. Winter and summer, sewn and knitted, it can become an excellent raw material for future boho masterpieces. “Transformation” is carried out in different ways:
- A specific item is taken as a basis and complemented with inserts or decor.
- Two, three or more products are combined into one, while the original lines and seams are partially preserved.
- The old clothes are ripped out entirely and the model is cut according to a new pattern.
Let's look at specific technologies.
Increase in volume
Every woman probably has several favorite things in her closet that have become too small.It would be a pity to throw them away: the female logic of “suddenly I’ll lose weight” comes into play. If the likelihood of regaining your former slimness is real, you can, of course, wait. However, if clothes have been lying “dead weight” for several years and are morally outdated, it is worth updating. This can be achieved through wedges that are sewn into existing or artificially made incisions. Inserts can be:
- from a material of similar quality;
- excellent in texture and color.
Such transformations are especially relevant for denim trousers.
Updating with decor
Sometimes clothes that are frayed, torn, or have a stain require restoration. Frills, ruffles, and embroidery will successfully decorate the edges of the legs, neckline, sleeves, and other parts of the product. In this case, a sweater, trousers or T-shirt, as in the previous case, remains the basis. For processing, everything that is at hand is suitable: light and warm fabrics, threads, lace, etc.
In addition, “unsightly” places can be disguised with applique or original embroidery. Decorative elements will refresh the outfit and give it a touch of boho chic.
Other methods are more “radical”. There are no longer any basics or additions; old clothes are recut to the maximum or ripped out. From the resulting pieces something completely new is assembled.
Stripes and tiers
These are a kind of “puzzles” for creating a boho look. By cutting them from “respectable” parts of old clothes and giving free rein to your imagination, it’s easy to assemble onions to suit every taste. There are various variations of connecting the parts together, for example:
- horizontally;
- vertical;
- obliquely.
The width of the stripes varies from minimal to significant.If you want something more airy, you can gather them when sewing.
Patchwork technique
This is a great opportunity to design unique clothes without significant financial costs. The simplest solution is to use flaps of the same size and shape. Fold them into a simple pattern and sew them to the yoke of the top or to the waistband of a skirt or trousers. Blanks of different shapes and sizes, folded into a fancy pattern, will look even more interesting.
There are many benefits to boho makeovers. Firstly, the creative process magically transforms old and outdated clothes into beautiful and fashionable ones. Secondly, the simplest models are accessible even to beginning craftswomen. And thirdly, created with your own hands and to your taste, such a thing will become a highlight in any woman’s wardrobe.
