The most stylish heroines of TV series of the past year

In 2020, quite a few TV series were released in which retro aesthetics come to the fore. Moreover, the costumes of the heroes can sometimes be regarded as an independent character - they are so amazing, thought out to the smallest detail, that sometimes you lose the meaning of the next plot in order to look at every detail of the outfit.

We have compiled a list of the most stylish heroines who appeared on screen in the past year, and whose images can become inspiration for every girl.

Mildred Ratched, "Nurse Ratched"

Although the plot turned out to be quite tense and gloomy, in general the picture gives us complete aesthetic pleasure from contemplating the costumes of the main character.

Ratched's dark side lurks deep beneath her image as an elegant, gracious, and neat nurse. Her wardrobe includes amazing hats, fitted jackets and skirts, elegant suits in the spirit of the New Look - Ratched is impeccably dressed and coiffed in any situation.

Of course, we do not approve of her actions, and sometimes we are very indignant at her behavior, but it is simply impossible not to admire her outfits and images.

Beth Harmon, "Queen's Move"

The picture fully reflects the style of America in the 20th century. The main character's outfits change as her income increases and her fame increases. At first, the heroine’s images are completely inconspicuous and do not attract the viewer’s attention. Later, when Beth wins her first victories in tournaments and gets the opportunity to buy relatively good clothes, she stops at everything that in one way or another has something in common with the world of chess. So the main element of clothing becomes geometry, the most preferred is the cage. It all reflects Harmon's love of chess.

Beth tried on different looks - a beige sheath dress and a crepe outfit, miniskirts, berets, trousers, jeans, turtlenecks, a little black dress with a plaid coat thrown over it and, finally, a white cashmere ensemble consisting from a beret, coat and trousers. But, whatever one may say, she looked mega-stylish and impressive in all her outfits.

Phyllis Schlafly and Gloria Steinem, Mrs. America

Both heroines were not chosen in vain, because they are the complete opposite of each other and their images are radically different, but equally delightful.

Phyllis Schlafly is an example of the conservative housewife style of the 70s. These are fashionable fitted suits, a complete absence of trousers, exquisite blouses and dresses, correctly selected accessories and perfect hair styling. The heroine always looks very feminine, sophisticated and stylish.

Gloria Steinem is a completely different story. Her outfits represent resistance and a desire to show her sensuality and sex appeal. The wardrobe includes mini-length skirts and dresses, short boots, bell-bottoms, simple fitted T-shirts, psychedelic patterns on clothes, a short fur coat, and the permanent accessory – aviators. Whatever one may say, Steinem stood out for the impeccability of her style.

Kira, "Psycho"

Let's be honest: all the heroines of the series (played by Chipovskaya, Alexandrova and Lyadova) look very attractive, but the undoubted style icon is Kira, the mother of the main character, played by Rosa Khairullina. Despite her age of 50+, the heroine behaves boldly and frankly, as evidenced by her outfits - bright, impeccable. Her wardrobe includes brocade raincoats, silk robes, stiletto heels, super spectacular leggings, bright eyeglass frames, scarves, and jackets.

Claire Wood, "Hollywood"

One of the advantages of the film is the impeccably recreated atmosphere of the stunning and sophisticated Hollywood of the 40s, which is expressed in the outfits.

There is everything here: confident women in bright ensembles, young actresses in tight pencil skirts and crop cardigans, men in jackets with wide lapels and high-waisted trousers, as well as many Oscar dresses from the classic Hollywood era. By the way, some images may well be introduced into modern life.

At first, Claire's outfits are decorated in richer colors, mostly red. But by the end the heroine reveals herself, and the shades of the outfits become softer.

Emily Cooper, "Emily in Paris"

This series is a definite must-see for those who love fashion and Paris. And although the film received a lot of criticism, the images of the main character were repeated by all fashion bloggers. It’s interesting that Patricia Field worked on the costumes, who also came up with the images for the heroines of Sex and the City.

Emily always looks like she's getting ready for a date or social event. There are no “ordinary” things in her wardrobe - only elegant dresses, catchy checkered jackets and bright accessories. The heroine has no clear rules on how to combine things in one image. Sometimes it looks like an attempt to combine the incompatible. All of Cooper's outfits are a striking example of a spectacular fashion symbiosis. For example, a blouse with lace, a knitted vest in a sporty style and a bright print, a stylish hat with a geometric pattern. Sometimes everything looks very unusual, but against the backdrop of the already boring office and casual style - where else can you see beautiful and non-standard outfits?!
