Every hunting enthusiast has to carry a lot of things to his favorite activity (food, matches, compass, hatchet) and cannot do without a special bag.
Such bags increase the convenience of hunting and allow you to carry a large amount of game.
But many do not know what they are called correctly.
Why do you need a specialized game bag?
It would seem that there is a difference between a hunting bag and a regular backpack, but any hunter who has tried hunting with a special hunting bag will never return to a simple backpack.
This is due to a number of advantages compared to backpacks:
- Colors. Many hunting products are designed in camouflage colors, and do not stand out in the forest, unlike the bright colors that are found on simple backpacks. This may scare away the prey.
- Convenience. These products are much more durable, easy to clean and often waterproof, as they are made from materials suitable for hunting (polyester, nylon, leather).Some versions of hunting backpacks contain fastenings for storing rifles or other firearms in disassembled form.
- Ergonomics. Hunting bags are equipped with special pockets for cartridges, which allows you to reload at any convenient time and can be supplemented with special modifications in case of hunting waterfowl. With them, if the product suddenly ends up in water, it will float for some time, and the equipment inside will remain dry and unharmed.
Types of hunting bags
Like any other type of hunter’s equipment, there are many different variations that have their own advantages and disadvantages:
Jagdtash
A classic among hunting bags is the game bag. It is small in volume with partitions and straps. Therefore, only essential items are placed in the bag, and bandoliers are sewn on only of certain calibers, which may require altering the bag. Special straps on the game bag are designed for carrying game.
The main material for game bags is leather, but due to some disadvantages of leather, some hunters prefer synthetic analogues.
Waterproof bag
The main difference from game bags is their versatility. The bag can be worn either on one shoulder or behind the back. In addition, it is much more spacious than a game bag.
Some models adapted to hunting waterfowl, which means they won’t drown if they fall into the water and keep all equipment dry. In this version, the volume of the bandoleer is larger than in other hunting bags.
Backpack
The hunting backpack is much larger and heavier than all previous bags. Its purchase is justified only in the case of a long hunt, during which it is necessary to spend the night in the forest, but in this case a backpack will be the best option.
When purchasing, it is better to take a mountaineering type of backpack, and along with it buy a backpack or bag. It is also worth inspecting the weapon mounts (if any) to find out whether the weapon is suitable for them and buy a couple of sealed bags so as not to stain the backpack when carrying the loot. The main purpose of the backpack is to transport materials for the camp, from which you can go hunting light.
Nets and bags for hunting
These options are not required attributes and are more auxiliary than basic. Designed for carrying game and easily fits in a pocket.
Inside, the prey is ventilated, which helps it not to spoil ahead of time; this is especially pleasant for hunting in the summer.
Bags with everything you need are the main attribute of every hunter. Unlike ordinary backpacks, they have a lot of advantages. Many products are equipped with bandoliers and are waterproof, which is really convenient for hunting. A hunter who has used a hunting bag at least once will never return to a regular backpack.
