How to make a briefcase for dolls?

Girls always play with dolls, trying to decorate them, dress them up and dress them up in every possible way. At the same time, it is not necessary to buy anything in stores, because many things and accessories can be made independently from scrap materials.

The school year is in full swing, but why can’t the dolls go to their own doll school? To do this, you first need to make a briefcase-backpack. In this article we will look at how to make a briefcase for dolls with your own hands.

How to make a briefcase (backpack) for dolls with your own hands?

The first thing you need to do is decide on the main material. Based on this, further actions will be determined. Before you start, you also need to decide what size backpack you need, because dolls come in different sizes.

To make it easier to decide, you can attach a ruler to the back of the doll and calculate what width and height will be optimal. The results need to be remembered, based on them we will draw a portfolio layout on a piece of paper.

The next stage of preparation is collecting the necessary materials.

Necessary materials

All materials can be found at home, or purchased at the nearest stationery store.

For work we will need:

• PVA glue or superglue;
• scissors;
• squared paper (notebook sheet, for easier marking);
• ruler;
• pencil;
• rope or thick thread (for straps);
• the material from which the briefcase will be made (cardboard, matchboxes or small cardboard boxes);
• optionally, fabric to cover the briefcase or paint.

Important! When working with scissors, you need to be extremely careful, don’t cut yourself!

Cardboard box briefcase

At the beginning of the work, we will draw a layout of the future portfolio, based on the measurements we have determined. We draw on a piece of paper in a box to make it easier to draw lines and maintain scale. It is important not to forget to place the briefcase lid on the layout - otherwise you will end up with just a box and not a backpack.

Cover and front wall can be made with a beautiful semicircular neckline - this will give a more elegant shape to the briefcase. From the back wall you need to draw the side walls of the required dimensions, similarly rounded into an arc.

Then you need to draw the gluing points. They will be located at the side walls and bottom, this is enough. The size of the gluing area should not be too bulky, but not small, so that a sufficient amount of glue can be applied (a little less than a centimeter is ideal).

The next step is to cut out the resulting layout and trace it on cardboard with a pencil, and then draw the missing lines for the folds. After this, you need to designate places for attaching future straps of the briefcase, as well as handles.

At the final stage, the workpiece needs to be cut, bend along the fold lines and make holes in the marked places.We take a rope and thread it through the holes made, tying knots at the ends so that the straps of the briefcase do not fall out.

From a matchbox

If the dimensions of the required briefcase coincide with the size of a matchbox, then it can be used as the main material. It turns out that we already have a ready-made frame for the future portfolio; we only need to make minor changes to the design.

You need to glue the box itself to its shell so that nothing moves. Make two cuts at the top cover for free movement. The next step will be to glue the lid - attach a small piece of cardboard.

Using an awl or sharp scissors, you can make holes in the back to attach the straps.

At the final stage, you need to cover the briefcase with fabric or paint the surface to give it a beautiful appearance.
