- ruler;
- threads matched to the color of the material;
- pins;
- scissors;
- decorative elements (optional).
Work order step by step
The first thing you have to do is cut the trousers along the seams inside and iron the resulting parts. Then follows make patterns on paper and transfer them to the material in suitable places. The patterns must be secured with pins on the wrong side of the material and the contours drawn. After this, the parts of the future backpack must be cut out.
Next, using a ruler and pencil, draw a rectangle on paper, the length of the bottom side of which should be 27 cm, and the length of the side should be 30 cm. The resulting part must be cut out, bent in the middle and the sharp upper corners trimmed off. This is the main part of the product. You need to make 2 of these parts.
After this, you will need to make the remaining patterns, attach them to the prepared fabric and cut them out.
Important! For each part, add 0.7-0.8 cm (at the seams).
The pocket part must be folded 0.5 - 0.7 cm and stitched. This will create a pocket hole. Then part of the pocket should be placed on the front part, as shown in the photo. Then you need to find the center of the pocket and stitch the bartack clearly in the middle.To prevent the fabric from skewing during the process, it is recommended to fasten the sides with sewing pins.
Then you need process the straps, loop and lower loops, carefully connecting (stitching) them from the inside out and then turning them right side out.
The side part of the backpack, on which the zipper will be located, must be folded in half and with a simple pencil mark the middle on the wrong side. If the length of the zipper is 55 cm, you need to set aside 11.5 cm from each end and mark the cut area for the zipper with a pencil and ruler. Then you need to outline the cut line and draw small triangles at both ends.
The fabric should be cut along the drawn strip, ending with triangular cuts. After this, the material must be bent inward by 0.7 cm and ironed. Then you need to place the side part of the future product on top of the zipper, face up, fasten everything with sewing pins and stitch at a distance of 0.4-0.5 cm from the hem of the material. The zipper is decorated.
Next, the bottom should be sewn to the product. You need to attach the front side to the front side and sew it by 0.7-0.8 cm. Then you will need to sew the prepared straps, loops and main parts to the side. To the back main part you need to first attach the top loop with pins, and then attach the loops through 2 half rings. You need to find the middle of the back, attach the ends of the straps to it and secure with sewing pins. Then you should sew on the top and bottom, stepping back 0.5 cm from the edge.
Long straps must be threaded to secure them in 2 frames. Thread the straps into 2 half rings. Then set the required length of the straps, tuck the ends 1 cm, and sew.
The side part with a stitched bottom should be placed on the back element of the product, fastened in a circle with sewing pins and sewn, departing from the edge 0.8 cm. After this, the main component of the future fashion accessory, on which the pocket is located, should be placed on top, secured with sewing pins and sewn . If there is no lining expected, the seams must be overcast. A fashionable and practical denim accessory is ready.
