Hookah has long become a part of friendly gatherings, going beyond the boundaries of specialized hookah establishments. Now they use it both at home and outdoors, and even take it with them on trips. But a problem arises - such a large device needs a special container for transportation, which would allow each element to be carefully transported without breaking any of them, while being quite compact. Expensive hookah models may include a bag for them; for more budget ones, you must purchase one yourself; however, there is a risk that such a bag may not fit your device and you will have to invest financially in making it to order. An alternative would be to create your own accessory.
What you need for a hookah bag
To make it, you will need:
- sewing machine;
- scissors;
- ruler;
- a simple pencil;
- chalk or bar of soap;
- two to three meters of strong braid;
- large paper sheet for pattern;
- zipper (60 cm)
- strong fabric for the base (2x0.5 m.)
- fabric for lining;
- foam;
- cotton wool or padding polyester.
How to make a hookah bag with your own hands
To create a tote bag that looks like a large wide tube, draw this life-size pattern on a large sheet of paper.
On the left is the side part, on the right is the main part and the handle. Cut everything out of paper, attach it first to the main fabric, then to the lining fabric and outline with chalk or a piece of soap. You should end up with one rectangular piece. two round ones from the main fabric and handles, and the same number from the lining.
Important! Don't forget to leave seam allowances!
Your next task will be to soften the future bag. First, do the same operations that you did with fabric, with foam rubber. Then layer each element on top of each other in the following sequence: main fabric, foam, lining. Sew the main and lining fabric. At this stage you should have three soft elements: one rectangular and two round.
The next step will be to make pockets for small parts of the hookah, as well as additional ones for tobacco, coal, etc. Cut one pocket of the appropriate size for each piece from the main fabric and the same amount from the lining fabric. Sew them together, leaving one edge unstitched. Stuff it with cotton wool or foam rubber. All that remains is to finish the remaining edges and sew the pockets to the rectangular part of the bag from the lining side.
Reference! For greater reliability, you can attach Velcro, a button or a zipper to your pockets, then you won’t have to worry about some items falling out on the road.
The final step is to sew together the rectangular part, round sides, zipper and handles. The hookah bag is ready!
