A bag is an indispensable accessory for every representative of the fair sex. Recently, bags made of burlap have become very popular - a natural, durable, environmentally friendly and at the same time very impressive material. This applies equally to both the simplest and rather sophisticated models. Despite all the apparent roughness of such fabric, with certain tailoring and rational use of decorative elements, such a product will look very feminine.
Burlap bags are trending
Burlap bags are not only beautiful, but also very comfortable. The presented range of products of this kind is quite diverse. You can even find exclusive products from famous fashion designers at very high prices.
There are models for sale for every taste: thin, dense, soft, hard, plain and with bright prints. You can purchase a stylish item made of canvas, linen, double-thread or matting.
Choosing a stylish model
For household purposes, they use spacious sack bags, some models of which have a rather original and stylish design. Messenger bags made from similar fabric have a rather impressive appearance. Models with inscriptions made using a stencil, as well as options with leather inserts, look very stylish.
Such accessories can be used not only on the beach and for going to the market, but also for studying, and even for informal meetings, walks and youth parties. Bags of this type harmoniously combine with clothing of various styles, but they look most successful with folk style outfits, as well as with sports, youth and romantic looks.
DIY burlap bag patterns
Designers are of the opinion that an overly complex pattern should not be used to make such a product. It is better to limit yourself to a model made from a “package” pattern. To do this you will need 2 pieces made of burlap and handles made from the same material. A product of this kind will perfectly cope with the function of a shopping bag.
If you want to create an original and stylish accessory, you can slightly change this pattern by adding unusual handles, a closing flap, a beautiful clasp (you can also add a calico or linen lining). You can, if desired, decorate the resulting bag with various decorative elements.
Advice! It is not recommended to decorate such a product with sparkling stones, rhinestones and shiny sequins. An excellent decorative option in this case would be appliques, wooden beads and sewn knitted elements. It is better to use matte and dull stones (jasper, amber, rhodonite).
Rectangle bag
Rectangular and square models are considered the most popular option. This type of product is perfect for daily use.
The components of such a bag are: base, front and back, 2 sides, clasp and handles. If desired, such a product can be decorated with a variety of decorative elements to suit your taste.
Trapeze bag
A less common, but no less practical model is considered trapeze bag. Such options can expand or narrow from the base to the top.
Trapezoid-shaped models are recognized as a trendy solution for the current season. You can easily make such a bag with your own hands without much expense and without having extensive experience in this matter.
Round handbag
Round shape option distinguished by the most elementary pattern. This model does not require a bottom, and in some cases even the sides. The manufacturing process involves stitching together two symmetrical parts and then adding handles, fasteners and decorative elements.
This option will certainly be appreciated by those who do not like to carry too many things in their bags.
Advice! These models look best in medium or miniature sizes.
Coffee bag handbag
You can make such an accessory yourself from an old bag, such as a coffee bag and an unnecessary diary or hard cover separated from the book. For this you will additionally need: lining fabric, needle and thread, sewing machine, glue gun, scraps of leather (for handles).
Technique:
- The bag must be washed and ironed.
- Place the cover (or diary), which will provide the frame of the future bag, on the burlap and cut out 2 parts, taking into account seam allowances (7 mm on all sides).
- Using the prepared pattern, prepare the same parts from any lining fabric, then sew the lining, leaving one side unstitched.
- The lining fabric bag made in this way must be placed on the cover and the unstitched side sewn up.
- Make handles from leather and sew fasteners made from the base material to them.
- Using a glue gun and sewn fasteners, the handles must be attached to the outside, sewn into the cover pouch, and stitched by hand for maximum fastening.
- After this, you should sew the basic vertical seams of the burlap parts and decorate the product, if desired, with interesting prints or cut out words and numbers.
- All burlap elements must be basted, then put the burlap on the frame sewn into the lining fabric, and glue all the joints of these elements.
To determine which model is appropriate to make, you need to focus on the conditions in which you plan to use the product in the future and, of course, on your own preferences.
