Satin ribbons are considered one of the most affordable materials for needlework, which is what most craftswomen use. In addition, satin is valued for its spectacular appearance, which is reflected in the crafts made from it. With proper care of satin items, you can be sure that they will serve for a long time, remaining in their original form.
Important! Satin ribbons are used very sparingly.
Working with atlas is simple - having mastered several popular techniques, you can create exclusive items with your own hands that can be given to family and friends or put up for sale. The symbols of the year – piglets – are a popular souvenir today. They, like figurines of many animals, can be made from bright and shiny ribbons.
Necessary materials for making a satin ribbon pig
There are several options for creating a piglet. The most successful and interesting toys are those that can be hung on a Christmas tree or used as a decorative element in a child’s room or kitchen.
Whatever option the needlewoman wants to try, she first needs to purchase the materials necessary for the work. The most important source is, of course, satin ribbons. Before you go to the store to buy them, you should consider the following:
- they can be plain or with a pattern;
- vary in length, width, density and composition;
- it is a fairly cheap and widespread material;
- even if in the process of work you stained them or dented them, you can easily wash them and iron them;
- A beginner can work with tapes.
To give the finished craft more resemblance to a real pig, you will need to glue or sew eyes and a snout on it. Eyes can be made from buttons or decorative round eyes can be used. The piglet is best made from a button with two large holes.
You can decorate a finished craft with beads, glitter sparkles or a scattering of shiny sequins. In addition, you can attach a bow made of a satin ribbon of a different color to the piglet.
How to make a pig with your own hands: step-by-step master class
Let's consider several of the most successful options for creating a pig from satin ribbons, the first of which will be a master class in the kanzashi technique. To work, in addition to two meters of five centimeter tape of bright pink color, you will need:
- blank for a Christmas ball made of foam, plastic;
- scissors with long blades;
- lighter (matches);
- ruler;
- glue gun;
- eyes and nose (button);
- decorative elements.
Step-by-step creation process:
- The tape is cut into 5X5 squares. In total you will need about 35 squares.
- The square is folded in half diagonally once, and then a second time.
- The lower part is cut off and sealed with fire from a match or lighter.
- The workpiece is turned inside out, resulting in something similar to a flower petal.
- The same is done with the remaining satin squares.
- After all the petals are ready, they begin to paste them over the ball. You need to start from its top part, on which the hook is located. Glue the middle and upper corner of the petal, the lower one should remain free.
- As soon as the top row is completed, a second one is glued under it and so on until the ball is completely covered with pink petals. It is important to ensure that the rows lie as close to each other as possible, leaving no free space in sight.
- The last petal must be glued completely.
- Focusing on the hook of the toy, glue a button nose and just above the eyes to its middle.
- From the remaining petals I make ears for the pig, which are glued on the sides of the hook.
- You can decorate a hook with a ribbon using a piece of ribbon of a different color and beads, which are used to make a bow. You need to glue it right under the hook so that the bow covers it. The toy pig made from ribbons is ready.
The second option for creating a craft is a blank for a refrigerator magnet. To work you will need:
- tape 50 mm wide – 10 cm;
- tape 12 mm wide – 2 m;
- sewing supplies;
- magnetic circle with a diameter of 5 cm;
- glue;
- scissors;
- felt
- beads, beads, sequins.
Step-by-step creation process:
- A narrow ribbon is gathered onto a thread into a loose rope (30 cm).
- A circle with a diameter of 5 cm is cut out of felt.
- Using the already familiar kanzashi technique, two petals are made - ears, which are glued to a felt circle.
- Glue is applied to the felt and, starting from the middle, a tourniquet is laid out, going clockwise.
- Eyes and a nose made of sequins or beads are glued onto the blank.
- A magnetic circle is glued to the back of the pig and the souvenir is ready.
From the remains of pink ribbons you can make a hair decoration in the form of piglets, which are glued to hairpins and thin elastic bands. The wide ribbon is folded in half and lightly picked up with a thread in the middle. Eyes made of black beads and a nose made of red are glued onto the resulting muzzle. The ears are made from a thinner ribbon, which is folded in the form of a kanzashi petal.
