A trunk extends from it, and a crown is located on it. This is what can be made from a variety of available materials - from ribbons to flowers or butterflies.

The crown is made in the form of a small ball, so it is important to choose a solid base for it. In most cases, traditional papier-mâché or just a wad of newspaper is used. You can decorate the tree to your liking; there are no restrictions except your imagination.

What is needed to create it?

The first step is to prepare all the necessary materials and tools so that they are already at hand during work. Creating a tree of happiness does not require a large amount of original materials, so everyone will probably have everything they need in their home.

So, what do you need for topiary? This:

• sewing supplies - threads and scissors to cut materials into the required number of parts and then fasten them together;
• satin ribbons - material for the crown, which, if desired, can be replaced with something else;
• glue - choose a strong but discreet transparent adhesiveso that the product looks neat and beautiful after completion of the work;
• a pot - this can be any other container from which a tree will “grow”. For example, a small cup;
• trunk-branch or stick made of paper;
• lace or braid to strengthen the trunk;
• the base of the ball is papier-mâché, newspaper, polystyrene foam;

How to make topiary from satin ribbons?

First you need to tackle the crown. Form a ball and, if necessary, cover it with crepe paper to obtain a more uniform structure.

Then make several roses from satin ribbons - their number depends on the size of the ball and the flowers themselves.Make a few pieces and attach them to the base to understand how many roses you still need to make. After that, stick them in rows on the ball. Don't leave gaps, but don't glue flowers directly on top of each other.

If you wish, you can leave space between the rows and glue satin leaves there to make the flowers look even more like real ones.. This option is also suitable if there are gaps and bald spots between the roses.

Now let's move on to making the barrel. First, make a base under the crown, like real flowers, and then wrap the trunk with green crepe paper and glue it to the ball.

We inflate the ball and glue many layers of paper onto it until the ball becomes very dense and begins to hold its shape. After this, you need to deflate it and carefully pull it out. Then we leave the resulting product to dry. But it is worth considering that papier-mâché will take quite a long time to dry.

That's why you can use another method and use threads instead of paper - they will dry much faster. The technique in this case is exactly the same.
