What is flannelette fabric

This material began to be made in our country at the very beginning of the eighteenth century. In those days it was made on a woolen basis, and if you translate this word from French, it will come out as “material made of wool.”

Initially, it looked completely different from the current one. The fabric was characterized by a rich brown color, since it had a thick and high pile, the fabric was dense and thick.

Winter hats were made from flannelette fabric, and they also made linings for clothes.

Later they began to add cotton to the composition of wool fibers, and they learned to dye the fabric. And it became the form in which it exists today.

Fleece fabric

The current bike is pleasant to hold in your hands. The material is characterized by the presence of a delicate pile that covers the fabric on both sides. The fabric has a dense structure. In the production of flannelette fabric, twill weaving is used, which gives the final product a dense structure.

Naturally, flannelette fabric that has left the weaver’s workplace is not very presentable.Accordingly, work continues outside the weaving workshop. The material is further processed:

• Initially, the material undergoes thorough cleaning;
• The panel is painted with plain paint;
• At the final stage, a drawing is applied.

If we talk about the composition of the material, it consists exclusively of wool, cotton fibers or combines wool with cotton. In other words, a completely natural product.

But there are also manufacturers who are not entirely honest, who, in pursuit of profit, try to add synthetics to the composition. But such deception is quickly and easily detected. You just have to stretch the cloth. A natural baize does not stretch at all; if you notice even a faint hint of elasticity, it is not a natural baize.

Properties

If we talk about the negative properties of the material, there are practically none. On the negative side, there is an increased requirement for care.

And given that the material does not stretch, it is difficult to process.

These were all the negative aspects, there were many more positive ones:

• The product is dense and practically does not wear out. After a certain number of washes, the material changes its original appearance. After this, it can last for many years, maintaining an excellent appearance;
• The material absorbs water well, but also dries quickly;
• Products made from this material are hypoallergenic as they do not contain synthetics;
• Breathes well;
• Pleasant to the touch;
• Having excellent pile, it has excellent warming qualities;
• Wide selection of colors;
• Low cost.

Application area

Flannelette fabric has a wide range these days. The material has different densities, different thicknesses of pile, can be made in a single color version, and can also have a pattern.Women's clothing uses fabric with floral prints, men's clothing uses checks or stripes, children's clothing uses a bright background and a corresponding theme.

It has found wide application in the creation of:

1. Warm clothes and linen, both for adults and children of different ages.
2. The fabric is used to make home clothes for different ages.
3. They make warm shirts for men and children.
4. Widely used in the development of sports suits.
5. Blankets and scarves are made from yarn.
6. In addition, insoles and inner coverings for shoes are made from it, and various linings are made.
