Lavsan is a synthetic fabric, but it is made differently from conventional materials. In terms of its composition, it is made of polyester threads. It belongs to fabrics with increased strength, withstands many alkaline and acidic drugs, therefore it is actively used in medicine.
Lavsan: what kind of fabric and its properties
The fiber tolerates high temperatures well and melts only at 260 degrees. It does not interact with other fabrics and perfectly complements any material.
The raw material tolerates sunlight and precipitation well. When exposed to water, lavsan does not swell, so dyeing fabric is not an entirely simple process. Rich or dark shades are made using transfer agents, while the conventional dyeing method produces only light tones.
In the world, lavsan also has the names terylene and dacron.
What is lavsan used for?
Based on the characteristics, strength, rigidity, roughness, as a material, it is used:
- in instrument making;
- in agriculture;
- in construction;
- in medicine as a surgical material;
- for sewing work clothes;
- for the manufacture of casual men's and women's clothing;
- for making curtains.
Reference! Home textiles made from lavsan are, first of all, durable things that do not fade in the sun (curtains last a long time), are easy to wash, dry quickly and do not wrinkle.
Many people buy this type of polyester fiber to make curtains in their garden.
Fiber is used as an additive to other materials. For example, in clothing fabrics, many manufacturers add polyester thread to strengthen the product.
The raw material is also used as a material for handicrafts due to its practicality. It lasts a long time and does not shrink after washing.
Dacron added to the material for a suit significantly increases the quality of raw materials for tailoring. Many modern products are made on the basis of lavsan and viscose. The combination of the properties of these two materials gives an interesting composition when sewing clothes. The quality of viscose is enhanced, the fabric becomes more durable.
You can take care of the products either by washing them in a machine (any mode will do) or by using a regular basin with warm water. Dirt comes off quickly and does not require special washing costs. Iron products at a temperature not exceeding 140 degrees.
Products made from this fabric are distinguished, first of all, by their impeccable appearance, good shape, which does not change even with frequent washing and drying.
