Both new and old jeans can emit an unpleasant odor. What to do in this case? There are several ways to solve the problem.
Basics of proper washing
New jeans smell bad because chemicals are used to dye them. Pants can also acquire an aroma during storage or transportation. In this case, they need to be washed, but in an unusual way.
So, we have to act step by step:
- take everything out of your pockets, fasten the zipper or buttons;
- turn out your pants;
- dilute detergent in a basin;
- soak the product for half an hour;
- knead the material with your hands;
- drain the solution;
- pour washing powder into a basin and add water;
- beat the foam, leave the item for 10 minutes;
- drain the solution, rinse the jeans thoroughly with aromatic conditioner.
Be sure to dry it in the fresh air.
What other products will best remove odor?
There are substances that can also help:
- Castile soap;
- Oxiclean;
- borax (borax);
- lemon with salt;
- vinegar;
- soda.
Oxiclean is a chemical that eliminates odor by triggering oxidative processes. A spoonful of cleaner per bucket of warm water is enough. Jeans are soaked in the solution for 12 hours. Then they need to be washed thoroughly, while your hands should be wearing gloves.
It would be nice to pour acetic acid into the washing powder compartment. A quarter glass will be enough.
You can reduce the smell in another way - by putting a slice of lemon and a glass of salt in the drum.
And, of course, where without soda. Half a glass, poured into the powder compartment, is enough.
And if you don’t have time to wash
Jeans should be placed in a bag. Then you need to put them in the freezer for half an hour. Another option is to spray your pants with vodka from a spray bottle. Then they should be hung on the balcony. If you don't have time, you can dry your jeans with a hairdryer.
Using simple methods, you will achieve the desired result! Now your favorite or just purchased item will smell fresh.
