For many decades now, things and accessories made from the practical, beautiful and durable material “jeans” or its elastic variety “denim” have not lost their position in the fashion world. Pants, jackets, skirts and shirts - all this and much more are made from denim, which looks great in any design.

Despite the fact that jeans are a fairly wear-resistant fabric, there comes a time when something made from it can become unusable. Sometimes it happens that jeans or a shirt seem to have no holes or stains, but are already out of fashion. What to do in this case? Do some remodeling.

Decor items

From denim, even without any special decorating skills, you can create interesting decorative elements for the kitchen, cottage, or children's (teenage) room.Before you begin work, which first of all involves ripping out unnecessary trousers (shirts) and further sewing pieces of denim into a new thing, you need to familiarize yourself with the basic properties of the material. The advantages include:

• durability, wear resistance;
• ability to absorb moisture well;
• beautiful appearance;
• comfort and convenience when wearing denim;
• the fact that the material allows air to pass through well, while protecting a person from the wind;
• the fabric is not electrified.

The disadvantages include:

• fabric may shrink after washing;
• things dry slowly;
• the material can be washed and faded at the folds and folds.

Important! Natural denim cannot be washed with bleach.

Pillows

Small sofa cushions will fit perfectly into the interior of a country house or teenage room. To sew a small decorative pillow measuring 40X50 you will need 1 pair of jeans.

Important! It is necessary to work with a clean and ironed item.

Before you start cutting the fabric, you need to cut the jeans:

• cut off the belt;
• cut from the center to the crotch from the back and front;
• cut the trouser legs along the inseams and outer seams.

On the resulting pieces of denim, use a dried piece of soap or chalk to draw two rectangular pieces of the desired size, not forgetting to leave a centimeter for the seams. The blanks are sewn on a machine (by hand).

Advice! The blank can be used as a pillowcase on a ready-made pillow. To do this, one side is left unsewn, sewing a loop and a button to it.

Idea! To make the pillow look more interesting, it can be made from scraps of different shades.

Hot mats, potholders

The assertion that denim clothing is only suitable for young people has long been refuted by the majority of people who, like their children and grandchildren, prefer to wear comfortable and beautiful denim items. In addition to jackets, skirts and trousers, you can purchase ready-made accessories from this fabric, or, if you have unnecessary trousers in stock, you can sew them yourself.

Apron

An apron is one of the must-have kitchen accessories. To sew one apron you will need one trouser leg, which is cut and sewn on a machine. Also, to create a small apron, you may only need the top part.

Backpack

You can take a denim backpack with you on walks or to study. It fits perfectly under any clothes and can withstand the heavy weight of things loaded into it. To sew a backpack you will need a pattern, which can be found in special magazines and on the Internet.

Bag

A denim bag, like a backpack, should be in every girl's wardrobe. You can sew the simplest and most versatile version of a bag – a sack – from a pair of unnecessary trousers yourself. You don't even need a pattern to create it. You just need to cut the trouser legs and sew them into a rectangular bag with long (short) handles.

Bijouterie

Denim jewelry has become a real must-have for the current season. The simplest option that every girl can make is considered a neck decoration - a choker. In addition, denim fabric is used to make:

New things from old jeans

Skirt

From old jeans you can sew several options for skirts: short, long, with wedges and others.

In order to get a comfortable short skirt, you need to leave the required length and sew the skirt. To decorate it, we will add fringe from the same denim fabric or additional pockets.

A long skirt is created by adding additional stripes of jeans to a short skirt. The strips are placed vertically, horizontally or at an angle.

A long skirt is also sewn from wedges. To do this, strips of other denim or cotton (lace) fabric are included between the vertical strips of denim. You will get a wide long skirt.

You can sew several strips of another fabric underneath each other to a short skirt. Then you will get a fluffy skirt.

Shorts

You can make new shorts from old jeans by cutting them to the required length. These can be ultra-short shorts or mid-thigh shorts. You can make cuffs at the bottom or leave a fringe.

Long / short dress (from several jeans)

The dress is made from fabric cut from halves of trousers. If there is not enough material for a dress, use several trousers of the same or contrasting color. The dress is decorated with lace or embroidery, and trouser pockets are sewn on.

You can sew a ballgown, in which the top is held on a corset, and the wide hem will flow softly over the fluffy petticoat. This dress is decorated with flowers, lace inserts, fringe or patch pockets.

Jeans of different colors are altered into a dress with contrasting details: pockets, sleeves, collar, cuffs or wedges.

Overalls

Old jeans are repurposed into work-friendly overalls with straps and buttons. There are many patch pockets sewn onto it to accommodate tools for work. With such a jumpsuit, everything will always be at hand. Children's overalls are decorated with stripes or embroidery.
