Shopping is always fun. But when a grease stain appears on your favorite or new jeans, the thought of buying new ones does not bring joy at all. But you don't have to throw your favorite item in the trash. Try to get rid of the stain better. And we will help you with this.
Ways to remove grease stains from jeans
There are actually a lot of ways to fight. But a variety of details play a role here: what the stain was made of, how much it has ingrained itself into the fibers, how old it is and what you have on hand. We will look at different methods, and you, in turn, use at least all of them.
Mechanical methods
This method involves removing contamination without the use of any chemicals. Its reliability is very doubtful, but if there is nothing at hand, then a mechanical method is better than nothing.
The first “first aid” is to blot the stain with a paper towel. It will absorb some of the fat and prevent it from spreading deep into the structure of the material.
Important! Use a paper towel to simply blot the stain, but do not rub it.
There is another way to get rid of contamination mechanically. To do this you will need an ironing board, paper and an iron.
- After blotting the stain with a towel, turn the jeans inside out.
- Place them on the ironing board with paper on both sides of the stain.
- Heat the iron and move it over the paper until it becomes greasy.
- Then change the paper and repeat the procedure until the greasy mark disappears completely.
If this method does not inspire confidence, use the means at hand.
Use of improvised products
Folk recipes saved our mothers and grandmothers more than once, proving their reliability. If you still don’t want to resort to chemicals, turn to folk wisdom.
We have put together for you several effective ways to remove grease stains using improvised means:
- Potato. Thanks to their high starch content, potatoes fight fat well. Peel the potato and grate it. Place the resulting pulp on the stain on the reverse side of the product and leave until dry (it is desirable that the mass be as juicy as possible!). After the paste has dried, remove any remaining residue with a stiff brush.
- Vinegar. It acts as an aid. Mix vinegar and water 1:1, rub this solution into a cloth, pour generously on top and leave for 15 minutes. Then rinse with water and wash the product as usual.
- Salt. Another simple and cheap product that perfectly fights all kinds of stains, including greasy ones. Just rub the dirty area with salt and leave for half an hour. Pre-moisten the stain with water! When everything is a little dry, just wash the item.
- Chalk will also help you fight the stain. You can take a piece of chalk and draw the dirty area on the reverse side, then wash the product. The use of chalk shavings will also be effective. Remember that this method is only suitable for fresh stains!
If traditional methods do not help or do not inspire confidence, resort to the power of chemistry.
Use of household chemicals
If you don't have a stain remover in your home, the first place to start is dish soap. It is designed to remove grease particles from hard surfaces, but it can also handle clothes. Pour a small amount of product onto the stain and leave for 15–20 minutes. Then rinse with water and wash.
Important! You can only use dishwashing detergent; other grease removers are more aggressive and can damage the fabric.
The easiest way is a stain remover. It was created specifically to make work easier. Simply apply the product to the fabric and leave for a few minutes. Then load the product into the machine and wash it. This product can also be added to a special compartment in the washing machine.
Important! Stain remover is a must for colored fabrics.
