How to decate cashmere fabric?

Cashmere decatingNot many people know what the process of decating fabric is. Decatting is a special process of treating the material with steam or hot water, which helps prevent shrinkage during subsequent processing, wearing and improving appearance.

If the material is pre-decated, it will take the correct shrinkage and shape, which will avoid further deformation of the product. Decating allows you to make the color of the material more saturated and even. If the fabric has undergone decat treatment, then it is much easier to remove stains from it during long-term wearing of the product.

On a note! If you are not sure that you can decate the fabric yourself, we recommend that you entrust this to specialists in a sewing workshop.

Decating process

Cashmere is considered a luxurious and delicate fabric. It requires special careful care. The process of processing with hot water or using steam in garment factories occurs using a special machine - a steam generator.

If decating cashmere fabric is done at home, it can be done using an iron. The decating process is performed only from the reverse side, and using an ironing iron (a special piece of cotton fabric). If decatification takes place in several stages, the ironing iron must be washed before each use. After the material has been ironed, it must be left to dry completely on the table.

It is important to know! Before decating, cashmere is smoothed with steam at a distance of 1-2 cm, without coming into contact with the material.

What you need for decating

If decating cashmere occurs at home, then it is necessary to carry out preparatory work. To work, you will need an iron with steam and water supply. You will also need a piece of cloth. It should be cotton fabric that does not shed. The size of the iron must be at least 50x80 cm. It must be ironed before use.

Please note that gauze cannot be used when decating cashmere.

Features (tricks) of decating

CashmereBefore you start decating cashmere, you need to smooth it well with steam from the iron, but without coming into contact with it. This method will eliminate bruises and possible bends. Decatulation can be carried out in several ways. This can be done in the spread of the material and in the fold.

Spread decating is the most relevant, as it makes it easier to work with matter. Do not forget that cashmere should be ironed from the wrong side. If there is a need to iron the fabric during decating, this should be done with a cold iron. The iron temperature should not exceed 40°C.
