Crepe

Crepe is a certain fabric group, most often silk or wool with a wavy surface. The name itself means “roughness” - this amazing effect is achieved by twisting more than three thousand threads per square meter.

In the manufacture of crepe, you can use both natural and synthetic fibers, and to get the effect “headers", apply high temperature mode. Thanks to this method, the fabric does not wrinkle and a wide variety of products can be sewn from it.

Types of crepe

Stretch crepe is a world-famous and very popular type of fabric. The main advantages are that it has excellent stretch and consists of natural and synthetic fibers. The items turn out to be very wear-resistant, difficult to tear or deform in any way, they fit perfectly and highlight the advantages of your body. This type of crepe is easy to care for and is suitable for both casual wear and business attire.

The next type is crepe satin. It also contains synthetic and natural fibers. The combination of these two fabrics miraculously combined into a beautiful and pleasant-to-touch material. A wide variety of products are made from crepe satin, from expensive curtains to evening dresses and business suits. Such things look very stylish and elegant, but require the most delicate wear and heavy care. Unfortunately, if you put a hold on this material, it will be impossible to get rid of it.

Crepe chiffon miraculously combines a fine-grained structure, density and wear resistance. This material is very popular in the world, does not have any pronounced side, has an incredibly pleasant silk surface, so dresses, blouses, stoles and scarves are most often sewn from it.

Crepe de Chine - has two densities for different seasons. The uniqueness lies in its density. Capes, scarves and summer dresses are made from lightweight crepe de Chine. A thicker version is used for sewing men's and women's business suits. The so-called winter version has several main advantages - first of all, it allows air to pass through and the body breathes in it. It is also very easy to care for and looks simply flawless!

The next option for wavy fabric is crepe georgette. This variety is used very rarely because of its “capriciousness” - the incredibly beautiful and spectacular translucent fabric with weaves of silk fibers is very finicky. Despite the fact that the outfits made from it are simply chic, few designers and tailors risk getting involved with this material.

Crepon or krepun is a woolen type of fabric that makes amazing dresses, discreet and elegant.

And the last variety is costume crepe.Well, the name itself speaks for itself. School uniforms, business suits, skirts, dresses, etc. are made from this material. The fibers mainly consist of natural threads.

Some care tips

  1. The crepe should be ironed only from the inside; the iron temperature should not exceed 110°C.
  2. This fabric should only be washed by hand or in a washing machine on manual mode at a temperature of 30-40°C.
  3. If suddenly your product has lost its color, then there is a little trick on how to restore the former beauty of your favorite thing. Everything ingenious is simple! When rinsing, add a small amount of vinegar to the water. That's all!

In the modern world there are a huge number varieties of crepe, so every person is able to choose a fabric that is ideal for him.
