Modern fashion loves decor and decoration. Not only evening, but also sports attire is often complemented with lace, rhinestones and other decorative elements. The passion for decorating denim clothes has not escaped. Embroidery, appliqué, lace are just some of the details that can transform jeans.
With lace, even the simplest jeans will take on an attractive look. You can change your clothing style by adding a statement accessory to your trousers.
Options for using lace to decorate jeans
Every modern girl's wardrobe has more than one pair of jeans that fit perfectly, but she always wants something new. Then it's time to turn on your imagination, take lace and create! Guipure can be used to transform denim trousers in different ways:
- make appliqués for pockets or belts;
- decorate the edges of the pockets with lace;
- decorate large holes;
- sew lace into the side seam;
- sew a lace strip along the bottom of the trousers.
All options are easy to implement, and you can decorate your favorite jeans yourself, even without the experience of a seamstress. Modern handicraft stores offer a large selection of materials, the use of which does not even require the use of a sewing machine.
Tools and materials that will be needed for work
To work you will need lace (a piece of guipure), tailor's or sharp stationery scissors, pins, threads and needles.
If you decide to decorate your favorite jeans with guipure appliqué, stock up on adhesive interlining. With its help, you can turn old jeans into new designer ones in a matter of minutes.
Lace inserts can be complemented with embroidery. Buy rhinestones or beads, small mother-of-pearl beads. They can be sewn on once the lace inserts are made.
Ways to decorate denim clothes with lace
The more original and unusual, the more interesting. Lace can be placed on top of denim and the trousers can be decorated with appliqué, or cuts can be made in the fabric and lace inserts can be sewn in.
How to sew lace trim onto denim
The easiest way: take a strip of lace 5-6 centimeters wide and, using a needle and thread, baste it in a circle close to the jeans under the belt. Carefully trim the side edges. To prevent the lace from becoming “shaggy” when washed, it is best to fold the sides and hem them.
Using a sewing machine or using a blind stitch, sew on the lace. Ready! If you buy guipure with a good supply, you can make a light frill.
How to make a lace insert on denim
The lace insert looks impressive on large holes in jeans. You can decorate with such inserts:
- jeans knees;
- slits and cutouts on the hips in the front of the trousers;
- side seams at the bottom of the legs.
Place a piece of guipure of the appropriate size inside the leg (it is better to first put a piece of cardboard under it), carefully baste the lace, making basting stitches on the denim. Then make neat seams around the perimeter, turn the legs inside out and cut off the excess guipure.
How to make a lace applique
You can buy ready-made guipure elements, first carefully baste them onto the legs, then carefully sew them around the perimeter. Such applications may already have an adhesive layer and only require ironing. 5 minutes - and you're done!
If you do not use thermal appliqué, cut out the openwork element you like from guipure, place it on a thin adhesive interlining. Cut the interlining exactly along the contour of the future appliqué, apply it to the trousers and iron it through gauze with a not very hot iron. This method is good for decorating pockets and trouser cuffs.
How to lengthen jeans with lace
Your favorite jeans can be lengthened and at the same time transformed with lace. There are several options for increasing the length of trousers:
- using lace inserts sewn into the lower part of the trouser legs;
- by making a lapel.
The first option is easier to do: you need to take lace, the width of which is slightly larger than the required extension. To enhance the effect, you can make a wedge-shaped cutout on the outside of the trouser legs, sew guipure into it, extending it to the required length.
For the lapel, take an extra piece of denim, sew it to the bottom of the legs, make a lapel, and sew lace on top to cover the seam.
