Kulirka-kabartma - inexpensive, aesthetic and comfortable knitwear
This type of knitted fabric has a mysterious name due to its French origin. Translated into Russian, “kulir” means bend. Tightly knitted fabrics made with looped weave threads can be found in almost every home. Underwear, pajamas, sports T-shirts, home knitwear, clothing and accessories for babies are often made from kulirka.
Description of kulirka-kabartma fabric
Kulirka-kabartma is a smooth, usually cotton knitted fabric. Upon closer inspection of the fabric, you will notice a vertical weaving pattern in the form of braids on the front side and transverse loops on the back. The knitwear is thin, light, and breathable.
Reference! The smooth surface of kulirka-kabartma knitwear is ensured by production technology: transverse weaving of one or several threads to form loops, alternating sequentially one after another.
Composition and method of production of kulirka-kabartma
Most often, for the production of knitwear, thread twisted from cotton fiber is used. Items made from this fabric are ideal for babies and people with sensitive skin. Cotton cooler-kabartma is soft, pleasant to the touch, hypoallergenic, hygroscopic and breathable fabric.
To make the material more elastic and not stretch during use, elastane or polyester is added to cotton threads.
The fabric is produced on special knitting equipment, depending on the type of future products, having ring or flat knitting using a weave method of weaving yarn.
Main characteristics of the fabric
In appearance, knitted fabric can be:
- plain dyed (made from plain yarn);
- melange (knitted from yarn of different shades of the same color);
- with a printed pattern.
Reference! Thanks to its even and smooth texture, the kabartma kulirka can be perfectly decorated with embroidery, printed patterns or photo printing.
Kulirka is the thinnest and lightest of knitted fabrics, has a density of up to 200 g/m2.
Depending on the method of twisting and processing of yarn fibers, peelability (formation of pellets), color fastness, ability to hold shape and other properties of the fabric are determined.
Loose cotton yarn made from short fiber “Open end” is prone to pilling of the surface pile, stretching the finished product. Products made from medium fiber Ring or Cardier yarns have less rolling and stretching properties. The use of yarn made from long fibers – “Penye” – will allow knitwear to pill less, hold its shape better, and retain color longer.
If cotton is mercerized, the fabric produced is smoother, resistant to fading and stretching, and does not form pilling. As a rule, mercerized cotton knitwear is used for sewing premium summer clothes.
