Polyamide and polyester are synthetic fibers that are made from polymers. Polymers are high molecular weight substances that can change greatly with the addition of small amounts of reagents. The difference between polyamide and polyester is that they are made from different polymers.
Polyester is made from the melt of polyethylene terephthalate, and polyamide is made from plastic obtained by processing oil, natural gas and coal. There are varieties of these materials. The most well-known polyamides are nylon, nylon and perlon. Made from polyester both woven products, some of which resemble cotton, silk and wool, and non-woven - synthetic winterizer, non-woven fabric, isosoft, etc.
What is the difference between the materials? Their differences lie in appearance, density, thickness and purpose of the fabric. Pantyhose, ribbons, fishing nets, and ropes are made from polyamide fibers. Polyester is actively used for the production of fabrics. The addition of 30% of this synthetic material significantly improves the properties of natural fibers, making them more wear-resistant. In appearance they may not differ from natural ones.
Properties of both materials
These fabrics have similar properties. They are durable and flexible, retain their shape well after heating, wrinkle little, and are resistant to light. Polyamide, which is particularly durable, is a more expensive material in terms of price. It is more sensitive to heat; items made from it must be washed at low temperatures and ironed at the minimum temperature setting of the iron, without steam.
Use of polyamide fabrics
What distinguishes nylon and nylon from polyester is the scope of use. Fabrics made from polyamide or with its addition are more expensive, they are of higher quality and look like new longer. They are especially good for outerwear. For example, a windbreaker made from 100% nylon is very soft and lightweight, but provides good protection from adverse weather conditions. Jackets, raincoats, coats and down jackets are very durable, strong and resistant to moisture. Even a small percentage of this fiber significantly improves the quality of the product.
Use for clothing and textiles
Polyester is a material from which many fabrics can be made., differing in texture, softness, smoothness and density. Lining, dress, underwear, jacket or curtains made of polyester - all these products can be of very high quality, despite the fact that they are made of synthetics. Modern technologies make it possible to make the material matte or shiny, loose or smoother, to weave the fibers so that the fabric has similar breathable properties as cotton. Sometimes it is impossible to say which is better - natural or unnatural fabrics. So they are similar in appearance and properties.
Thus, polyester and polyamide have differences, but at the same time their properties are similar. DFor a better result, these fibers are mixed, to get a beautiful product with an affordable price and good quality.
