With the development of the chemical industry, polymer fabrics have become firmly established in the life of modern people. The availability of synthetic fiber determines the low cost of finished products. Polymer fabrics are used in various areas of light industry.
This includes the production of:
- clothes;
- bedding;
- curtains;
- women's underwear.
Polyester is the general name for a whole group of polymeric materials produced mainly from petroleum. It is made from:
- plastic bottles;
- packaging film;
- tourist tents;
- ropes;
- fabrics for suspended ceilings;
- blankets and pillows;
- textile yarn.
Features of polyester and polyester fibers
This product has many advantages, but there are also disadvantages. First, about the advantages of the material and products made from it:
- practically does not wrinkle, so does not need ironing;
- things dry quickly;
- after washing, the material does not lose its shape (does not stretch, does not shrink);
- The clothes are practical to wear and retain their original appearance for a long time.
Flaws:
- under the influence of high temperatures, wrinkles may form on things that are difficult to smooth out;
- High electrostaticity, but this can be eliminated with an antistatic spray.
Polyesters – these are also polymer fibers, the peak of popularity of which occurred in the 90s of the last century. At that time, sports suits and clothes for discos were made from polyester fabrics.
Polyester and polyester, what is the difference?
As such, there is no difference between the products. The difference is that polyester is the same polyester, but only improved, and therefore more popular today. Due to its lightness, the fabric is used in industry and at home.
Bedding sets are sewn from it, and finishing for furniture facades is made. To make clothing, polyester fibers are diluted with natural fibers, most often cotton, which makes the material softer and more pleasant to the touch, but at the same time it loses some of its strength.
The product is easy to paint, washes well, and has an attractive shine. Polyesters can also differ from each other: in structure, rigidity and other qualities. It all depends on the purpose of the fabric.
For example, to sew tourist tents, sleeping bags and suits for skiers, the manufacturer uses material that has maximum water-repellent qualities. And for furniture upholstery, products are used that are resistant to abrasion and hold their shape well.
