Clothing made from natural wool is warm and cozy. Wool is a very capricious material and requires care. If you wash and dry it incorrectly, the products will stretch and lose their original appearance.
How to dry woolen items correctly
To extend the life of woolen items and preserve their appearance, they must be properly cared for. Natural thread does not like mechanical stress or contact with water. Therefore, if there is no obvious contamination, it will be enough to ventilate such products from time to time. It is recommended to wash clothes no more than once every six months; the rest of the time, dry cleaning is sufficient. If you had to wash woolen clothes, then you need to do it correctly. You need to dry them, also following the rules.
What not to do
To prevent damage to products, do not do the following:
- Wool sweaters and jumpers should not be dried in a vertical position, for example on hangers. This causes the products to stretch out and lose their original appearance;
- Do not dry wool near heat sources, such as a radiator, or in direct sunlight. This causes the fabric to shrink. White products turn yellow;
- Do not dry products made from natural materials in the kitchen. They will absorb all the food odors that are inherent in this room;
- Machine spinning and drying are prohibited, as is intense hand squeezing;
- You should avoid over-drying woolen fabric, as this will make the product difficult to iron.
How and where to dry
After the items have been washed, it is necessary to remove excess moisture from them and only then proceed to drying. In order to do this, you need to take a terry towel of a suitable size and place it on a horizontal surface. You need to lay the product out on a towel, then roll it up into a roll and gently squeeze it out with your hands. Terry fabric will absorb all excess moisture, and the wool will not be damaged.
After this, the clothes are placed on a horizontal surface, on which a towel or any other dense fabric must first be placed. At the same time, they need to be given the necessary shape. The fabric needs to be changed periodically to prevent mustiness from appearing.
If you place the products in a well-ventilated room, they will dry much faster.
Clothes made from angora or mohair need to have their fluffiness restored. To do this, you need to roll it up and put it in a bag. After which the bag is placed in the freezer for about a day.
To preserve the original appearance of clothes, you must follow the rules of washing and drying. Also, do not forget about their proper storage and protection from moths.
