Satin jacquard

Satin jacquardBeautiful, strong and durable fabric is the best material for sewing clothes, bed linen and home textiles. Satin jacquard is a perfectly smooth, silky surface without lint. By running your hand over it, you can feel the softness and silkiness.

The history of the material began back in 1804, when the French inventor Joseph Marie Jacquard designed a jacquard loom. With the advent of innovation, court nobles had the opportunity to create unique products. Since then, humanity has gained the opportunity to produce this fabric on an industrial scale and sew massive pompous outfits, bedding and interior decorations (bedspreads, curtains) from them.

Composition, properties, density of the material

Weaving satin jacquardSatin jacquard is made on a special weaving loom. During production, cotton, synthetic or blended threads are closely intertwined with each other, creating a convex pattern. Relief texture is just one of the features of satin jacquard items. The unique pattern is another highlighting detail of the material.

Fabric manufacturers use two thread dyeing technologies. The first - dyeing the threads before weaving - gives the fabric a deep, rich shade. The second is applying a pattern to the yarn after weaving with further impregnation of the material with special solutions, which increase the durability of the pattern and the density of future products, giving the products brightness.

Durable and elegant material is used to make upholstery for upholstered furniture that is not susceptible to external influences (constant sitting on the sofa, dirt). Properties of satin jacquard unique - closely intertwined threads have the following features:

  • Do not become electrified during friction with wool or hair;
  • Absorbs moisture well;
  • They retain the heat of the human body by allowing air to pass through.
  • Density The weave of threads usually reaches 170-220 threads per square centimeter. But there are also more durable items with a thread count of 250. Thin types are used for sewing clothes and bed linen, dense ones are used for making home textiles (bedspreads, decorative pillowcases, curtains, lambrequins).

Advantages and disadvantages

  • smooth, durable and shiny fabric, similar in appearance to silk, has such advantages
  • high strength and abrasion resistance of the relief pattern;
  • durability of products - even after 40 and 60 years products retain their impeccable appearance;
  • easy to care for, does not require frequent washing or ironing;
  • elegant appearance – the material looks expensive, stylish and relevant to any fashion trends;
  • does not cause allergic reactions on the skin; bed linen made from this fabric can be used in a child’s room.

Most often, the material is used for sewing bed linen, the peculiarity of which is to warm the body in the cold season and cool it on hot summer days. Satin jacquard has no disadvantages, except perhaps the price. But it also pays off - products made from this material will serve well in the house for decades.

Interesting! Synthetic fibers added to cotton during the production of satin jacquard enhance its practical properties - such products are easier to wash, they become more elastic and allow air to pass through better.

Differences between satin jacquard and other types of satin

Satin jacquard curtainsThe main distinguishing detail of the fabric is its external density and at the same time high breathability. When purchasing a product, not everyone will be able to immediately understand where the front side is and where the back side is. In appearance, satin with jacquard weaving resembles a medieval tapestry. Interior decorations made from such a noble fabric will not require additional decor.

One cannot miss the fact that, despite the naturalness of the fibers, the finished products do not wrinkle. Due to the fact that special technology is used in production, the canvas is double-sided. That is, if you accidentally lay the bedspread with the wrong side up, few people will notice it.

Unlike regular satin, bed linen with the addition of jacquard weaving does not slip under the weight of the body and does not form pills or puffs. The particularly close weave of hundreds of threads allows the color to be preserved even when the product is regularly exposed to sunlight.

Caring for products made from noble materials

Satin jacquard fabricDurable, but at the same time soft and delicate, satin jacquard fabric requires special care. Clothes or heavy home textiles made from this material can be dry-cleaned, but washing and cleaning at home will be no less productive. In this case, you need to follow some rules:

  • When cleaning, do not use hard lye or sponges, so as not to destroy the structure of the fibers. If a stain has formed on the product, it should be removed with light movements of a soft sponge soaked in detergent.
  • Laundry detergents should not contain bleaching ingredients. The optimal type of detergent is gel or liquid laundry detergent on a phosphate-free basis.
  • Cold water is the best companion for the process of washing satin jacquard. If the manufacturer indicated on the label the possibility of washing at 40 degrees, then you can follow this recommendation.
  • In addition, products made from noble material cannot be pressed in a centrifuge, only carefully with your hands, dried outdoors in partial shade (to avoid color fading) and ironed on the reverse side. If there is such a possibility, then after washing the fabric should be laid out on a flat surface to avoid the threads from breaking.

Curtains and curtains made of patterned thick fabric can decorate the windows in a room with a classic English or antique interior, and dresses made of satin jacquard will highlight the attractive appearance of a woman at a themed party dedicated to the Middle Ages or the Renaissance.

IN Valentina:

I completely agree with the author. Satin jacquard is simply an amazing fabric. I myself have been using bed linen of this fabric for a couple of years now. And I recommend it to everyone =) Satin jacquard bed linen looks amazing, and its wear resistance probably has no equal. Although there may be something stronger, I don’t know, please advise)
I personally bought bed linen from Ganzola, simply amazing and not boring colors.
