Interesting pockets

Pockets as we know them today were not always a common feature in tailoring. It was only towards the end of the Middle Ages that money began to be exchanged for goods and services, and the need for them arose. Moreover, the first external ones appeared only at the end of the 17th century. Since then, pocket design has moved along with clothing design and fashionable forms of pockets, their functionality and convenience have always kept pace with the times.

Types and models of patch pockets

There are two main types, with different style variations:

  • invoices;
  • internal.

We will talk about invoices separately, but as for the internal ones, a large number of such interesting “wallets” are classified as slotted ones, since they require a cut of the main material, and their entrance slots are neatly stitched or closed with a zipper. Internal ones also include those on seams, the inlet of which is located according to the suture row.

Invoices: very common due to their functionality and ease of sewing.A distinctive feature of patch pockets is that they do not greatly depend on the cut of the main item of clothing. They can be added to almost any style and item. At the same time, modern invoices are always a noticeable part of the decor and determine the stylistic features of the wardrobe.
