How to sew boho style items without a pattern

In the 21st century, most people value, above all, comfort in clothing. Many things, beautiful, stylish, but restricting movement, sometimes wait for months on the shelves of the closet. Clothing in the boho style is a happy exception, because you can be both fashionable and comfortable in it. In addition, it can be easily and quickly done with your own hands, even without special skills.

Five boho things you can sew without a pattern

If you have a suitable piece lying around the house or caught your eye in a fabric store, feel free to get to work. In addition to the material you will need:

  • sewing machine;
  • centimeter;
  • scissors;
  • tailor's pins;
  • needles and threads.

Tunic

It will require a flap 1.5–1.8 m long and 80–90 cm wide. The fabric is folded in half, with the fold at the top. Then the neck is cut out; it can be of any shape:

  • boat;
  • round;
  • V-shaped.

Finally, the side seams are sewn together and the edges are processed if necessary.Silk, chiffon and other wrinkle-resistant materials are ideal for this model.

Maxi dress

It, like a tunic, is best sewn from flowing, well-draped fabric. The technology is approximately the same, with the exception of the side seams. They are modeled according to the curves of the figure plus a few centimeters on each side. You can “bait” them with pins during fitting, at least on the lines of the chest, waist and hips. After that:

  • pull out the pins on one side;
  • take off your future dress;
  • sew one side seam from the front side;
  • sew symmetrically on the other side;
  • decorate if desired.

Important! The narrowest part of the dress should be at least as wide as the chest, so that you can easily “fit” into it.

Light sundress

For this model, along with flowing ones, thin cotton fabrics, such as cambric or chintz, are also suitable. Need to cut:

  1. A pair of identical rectangles 50–60 cm wide and 60–70 cm long for the base. Sizes vary depending on height and body size.
  2. Two identical stripes on the shuttlecock – 90*60 cm.

First, the front is stitched to the back. The line ends before reaching 17–20 cm from the top. All “flapping” ends, except the bottom edge, are carefully processed. Then, in the upper part, parallel to the chest, 1–2 cm from the edge, a narrow fold is formed on both halves, the edges of which are stitched. Between the lines you need to thread a lace that will hold the sundress on your shoulders. In this case, the fabric on the back and chest along the lace is draped in small folds.

The frill parts are also sewn together on the sides. The bottom of the flounce is hemmed, and its upper part is gathered to the width of the base and sewn to it from the inside.

Blouse with dropped shoulders

It can be a great addition to the skirt described above. Its bodice is cut from two squares approximately 50*50 cm (with a size larger than 48, the sides will be slightly wider). The top corners should be slightly beveled (about 10 cm). The frill should be one and a half to two times wider than the bodice. Its top is “set” on an elastic band and sewn to the base, but not completely: there should be space for your hands on the sides.
