How to weave baubles from threads

Baubles always attract the attention of others. Ordinary jewelry no longer surprises anyone, but with the help of such a cute little thing you can easily stand out among others. A significant advantage of such decorations is that you can make them with your own hands.

What you need, what threads to choose

In order to make baubles for beginners, it is better to purchase floss. You can buy them at any craft store. They come in various colors and sizes. Each skein contains from 8 to 20 m of thread. They are all bright, rich, and there is even floss with a gradient effect, which is very popular now. The choice is so large that every needlewoman will be able to choose the appropriate option based on price, color and quality. Some types of baubles can be made from woolen, knitting threads

what threads will be needed

If you are not sure that you will succeed the first time and do not want to spend money, then you can try it on the threads that you have at home, for example, “iris” or “peony”.

How to secure threads

how to secure threads

First you need to secure the threads.There are 4 ways in total:

  • wide clamp using cardboard;
  • a pin on which knots are tied;
  • tape to a hard surface;
  • using a special tablet for needlework.

Note! When fastening, the threads must be positioned according to the diagram. After the threads are securely fastened, we begin to study new knots.

Knot technology

knot technique

There are four basic knots for weaving baubles:

  • main left;
  • main right;
  • half;
  • flat.

Main left - for this, take the left thread and make an angle over the right one. After this, the tip of the left one is tucked into the corner and a knot is tied. After this, repeat the steps.

Basic right - to do this, take the right one and make an angle above the left one. The tip of the right one is tucked into the corner and a knot is tied. Repeat.

Half - the right corner is placed with the left thread over the right thread, and the second corner is made in the same way only with the left corner.

Flat - consists of one left rotary and one right rotary angle.

Straight weave

straight knot

One of the most common ways of weaving baubles. Thus, you can get not just colored bracelets, but real patterns, inscriptions, pictures and much more. Straight weaving is not the easiest way, but the result is worth it. In this technique, threads are divided into two categories: background and pattern.

Attention! Don’t immediately take on too complex ornaments! Stop at a drawing consisting of a couple of colors.

Instructions execution:

  1. For the pattern, choose 5 threads of crimson color, each 1 m long. For the background, choose a blue thread, 8 m long, secure the threads with tape or a pin. The longest thread should come first.
  2. Using the main blue thread we braid all the crimson threads, creating the very first row.
  3. After this, use a blue thread to tie the first crimson thread with a right knot.
  4. In turn, we tie 5, 4, 3 blue threads with crimson threads with a right knot.
  5. The third row begins with the main left knot. First, we tie a blue thread around raspberry 2, then we tie a raspberry thread around blue thread 3.
  6. The fourth row is performed similarly to the second. That's the whole drawing. The fifth row begins exactly the same as 2.

Oblique weaving

Oblique weaving can also be called classic in another way. This is the simplest option, which is what beginners are recommended to start with.

oblique weaving

It consists of only one main node - left or right. It is repeated on each row until the end of the bracelet. To do this, you need to prepare two multi-colored threads, for example red and yellow, each 1 m long.

Weaving method:

  1. First you need to secure the threads and weave 0.5 cm with an ordinary braid. Distribute 2 yellow and 2 red threads sequentially.
  2. The very first thread will be working. It is she who makes the first left corner and tightens the first knot.
  3. The left knot is made with the remaining threads. After that, it becomes the very last thread.
  4. Do the same with the next left threads. You should get an alternation of colors in two rows - red and yellow.
  5. The bauble ends in a braid and is tied into a knot. The threads are cut. The product is ready.

Schemes and patterns

There are many weaving options and patterns to create baubles. Bracelets are woven according to simple and understandable patterns.

You can choose absolutely any pattern, and each bracelet will look unique. Try something not too difficult first. Stick to the plan and you will definitely succeed. After the required fastener has been assembled, make a knot and trim off the excess threads.

With inscriptions

Bracelets with inscriptions are especially popular. This DIY decoration will be an excellent gift for a loved one. You can use two or more colors. You can make such a decoration using a diagram with names or a definition word. Be sure to prepare a stencil of the inscription so as not to get lost. The name can be woven or embroidered on a finished bauble, knitted with a classic pattern.

Decoration methods

The bauble itself is already a full-fledged decoration, but this does not mean that it should be made exclusively from threads alone. It can be decorated with other decorative elements. The most common decoration for a bauble is a padlock. You can buy it at any craft store. You can add various beads, rhinestones or beads to the bracelet.

how to decorate a thread bauble

The bead is strung on a thread with a needle and woven into the product - that’s the whole trick.

Bracelets with added rhinestones look beautiful. You can glue the stones onto the finished product, but there is a high probability that the rhinestones will fall off and an unsightly trace of glue will remain. Therefore, it is better to purchase a thread with attached stones, which is sewn to the bracelet itself.

In addition, you can decorate a bracelet made of threads with the help of spikes.Recently, this type of jewelry has become increasingly popular among young people. The spikes are sewn to the finished product, the thread is fixed from the inside out.

If you show your imagination, you can decorate the product with what at first glance seemed like extraordinary decorations. You can, for example, take an infinity icon and attach it to a bracelet - a great gift option for Valentine's Day.
