Many needlewomen often have small balls of yarn for knitting or threads that cannot be used to make a large item. Such remnants can be put to good use in other ways. These are crafts made from knitting woolen threads (and nails), etc. In particular, you can use them to make cute toys or original crafts for interior decoration. Let's look at the diagrams for children, what you can do with your own hands.
Necessary materials
Such crafts do not require special expenses. Depending on what product needs to be made, different sets of tools and materials may be needed. The main list looks like this:
- threads (wool yarn, floss, cotton threads);
- needle;
- scissors;
- glue.
Creative crafts made from threads step by step
There are a lot of different techniques with which you can make various decorative elements and even paintings from scraps of thread.
Topiary – “Tree of Happiness”
For example, you can make such an elegant topiary.To do this you need to prepare: a ball of thread (can be made in the same way as recommended below for making animals and birds), a stick for the “trunk” made of wood or wire, glue, a small pot, filler (pebbles, coffee beans or large beads) , as well as decorations (“leaves”, “flowers”, feathers, beads).
Technique:
- First you need to attach the ball to the stick in any convenient way.
- Then the “trunk” needs to be installed in the pot and filled with filler.
- The resulting product can be decorated to your liking using a variety of decorative elements.
The “Tree of Happiness” is ready.
Pompom toys
Many people like to make furry animals from leftover wool yarn. To do this, you first need to make pom-poms of suitable sizes, from which the figures will subsequently be made. Pompoms of various sizes are used to create body parts for birds or animals.
Chick
If you use yellow yarn, you can create a cute chicken this way. To do this, you just need to glue two pom-poms together with a glue gun, and then decorate the eyes and beak. Using this principle, you can also make a dog, cat or frog.
Advice! This fascinating hobby can be shared with children, since children’s hands are quite capable of making simple crafts from leftover knitting yarn and embroidery threads.
If you approach this process creatively, you can make interesting decorative items, original gifts and funny toys from the leftover yarn collecting dust in the closet.
Animals (birds) made of threads
To make voluminous openwork toys from thread balls, you need to prepare threads, balloons of different sizes, scissors, a small container and PVA glue.
Technique:
- It is necessary to inflate the balloon to the desired size (larger for the body, smaller for the head of the figure), then coat it with sunflower oil or rich cream (to make it easier to subsequently separate the frame from the threads).
- Pour glue into the prepared container, stir it and immerse the threads there.
- After squeezing out the excess glue, the threads soaked in it should be wound around the ball in a random order, after which the thread should be cut and its tip tucked in to secure it.
- The ball wrapped with threads must be completely immersed in glue, then carefully squeeze out the excess and leave to dry completely, until the thread frame becomes sufficiently rigid.
- After this, the ball must be pierced with a needle and pulled out through a suitable hole in the openwork frame.
You can make several balls in the same way. Attach the small ones (heads) to the large ones (torsos) with glue and decorate the eyes, mouths, paws, wings and tails. In this way you can make beautiful birds, bears, bunnies and other animals.
Thread paintings
If you have a lot of thread scraps of different shades, you can create an original picture from them.
To do this, you need to prepare cardboard, sharp scissors and PVA glue.
You can search for drawing templates on the Internet or make your own, to suit your taste.
It is better to use a simple image with fairly large details for children's creativity.
Technique:
- It is necessary to draw the outline of the selected design on the cardboard. If you have a ready-made template, you can simply stick it on cardboard.
- Yarn of suitable shades should be cut into very small pieces with scissors and placed in separate boxes for convenience.
- Those fragments of the picture for which you need to use one of the shades must be thickly greased with glue and sprinkled with cut threads, then press them tightly onto the cardboard. Excess should be blown off or shaken off.
- Using the same principle, you need to design the remaining fragments of the picture. When the image is completely covered with yarn, the picture will need to be framed.
Flowers made of threads
You can make beautiful flowers from floss. To work, you will need threads of the desired shade, a piece of newspaper (for the blank), wire and sharp scissors.
Technique:
- It is necessary to form blanks for flowers. To do this, you will have to crumple a piece of newspaper, giving it the shape of a ball.
- A thread pre-impregnated with glue should be wound around the resulting ball, avoiding the formation of empty areas. When the ball reaches the desired volume, you need to let it dry completely.
- After a few hours, you should carefully trim off the excess with scissors, at the same time giving the ball the shape of a flower. Make the required number of flowers in the same way.
- You need to carefully thread the wire into the resulting buds, thus securing each flower to it. The fastening site can be disguised with a large bead.
- To shape the wire into a stem, you need to wrap it with green thread soaked in glue and leave it until completely dry.
Advice! You can make a beautiful bouquet from several similar flowers. Using a combination of different sizes and shades, you can create spectacular compositions.
For needlewomen who know how to knit or weave macrame, making beautiful crafts from threads will be faster and easier. But this does not mean that beginners without experience should not take on the production of such decorative elements.You can master this skill without much difficulty in a fairly short time.
