Weaving is one of the machine knitting methods that is used to create various patterns. The pattern in this case is obtained by additional thread laid in the required order along the main fabric. For this reason, this option is sometimes called a weaving pattern. The work can be done in a single color or using several colors. Basic Weaving Techniques
In this method, the pattern is formed using three techniques.

- Selecting a pattern.
- Selection of yarn. This preparation stage is important. For weaving you will need two threads: the main and additional fiber.
Creating basis, You can use both machine and hand knitting threads that best suit your needs.
- For items intended for hot weather: linen, cotton, viscose, silk with parameters 400–500 m/100 g.
- To tie the warm ones medium weight items: acrylic, six, mohair, alpaca with parameters 300–350 m/100 g.
- For outerwear (jacket, coat): bulk fiber with parameters 250–200 m/100 g.

Main types of weaving
There are two main directions for creating patterns.
Classic method
The classical method involves using two threads of the same density. In this option, you can use fiber of the same color or use a play on contrast. Then, in addition to the weaving technique, the threads emphasize each other and the beauty of the weave.
The fabric can be knitted in a continuous pattern. When working with punched cards or an electronic program also you can knit single motifs.
Fantasy approach
With a fantasy option fibers of various volumes are used. With this knitting method, you can get two options:
- openwork;
- canvas with various effects (boucle, faux fur, terry cloth, and so on).
These differences will depend on the extra thread used. For openwork weaving, you need to use a thin additional thread, which will differ from the warp at least twice. Use fancy yarn for different effects. You can select it experimentally.
