A cute hand-made crocodile will become a child’s favorite friend and just a decoration for a child’s room. You can choose absolutely any size of the toy. If you have the desire and a sufficient amount of material, you can sew a “dangerous” beast even in full height. The same crocodile pattern is used for sewing keychains or small souvenir toys. The main thing is to correctly compare the sizes and calculate all the parameters. A variety of materials are used to sew a soft friend. Some craftswomen prefer to knit a toy with knitting needles, but to do this you need to be a real knitting master.

Working on a soft crocodile will not take much time. The pattern is quite simple, no special technique is required. Therefore, it is enough to start the creative process, and it will attract the seamstress.

Pattern of a crocodile from fabric - how to sew a crocodile

Before taking the fabric, we need to draw the pattern on paper. This could be whatman paper or an ordinary piece of paper from an album. It all also depends on the planned size of the toy. You can open any picture with a pattern on the Internet and simply redraw it onto a sheet. Another option is to do it yourself, but this is additional effort and extra work. The professional layout consists of eight parts:

  1. Abdomen with tail and four legs - 1
  2. Right side of the body - 1
  3. Left side of the body - 1
  4. Back - 1
  5. Upper part of the mouth - 1
  6. Lower part of the mouth - 1
  7. Eye - 1
  8. Teeth - 1

After all the details are drawn, we compare their dimensions. If everything is proportional, carefully cut out each of them. For convenience, you can sign the names of the parts or put down numbers. This will help you not get confused during the work process. The crocodile pattern is ready, you can move on to the next stage.

How to make a crocodile from fabric

Initially, we prepare everything necessary for sewing. First of all, this is the material. The quantity depends on the size of the toy and is calculated individually. The softest and most beautiful toys are made from corduroy or felt. Corduroy products are more suitable for decoration, felt products are more suitable for children. Crocodile is naturally green, so we choose green fabric. Some people like to show their imagination, making toys red, blue, yellow - this is individual.

To make the mouth of a dangerous beast, take red felt. The tummy can be made yellow. For the eyes you will need white and yellow colors, and the teeth can be made from artificial white leather. It is quite dense and elastic. When all the materials are ready, you can start working.

  1. We redraw the pattern onto the material and trace it with chalk. Along the edges of the parts, leave one and a half to two centimeters for the seam.We do not leave any space for a seam on the teeth pattern.
  2. We cut out each part in turn. We cut out the main parts, then the mouth, two white teeth and two yellow eyes.
  3. We sew together the elements of the mouth along the smooth side. We fix it with pins on the main parts. We sew all the edges - on the lower and upper parts of the mouth.
  4. We insert the teeth and make neat seams along the bottom and top of the mouth.
  5. At the end we sew the body. Leave a small gap to stuff the toy with cotton wool or padding polyester. Carefully turn the crocodile inside out. For the legs and tail, you can use a pen or pencil to turn the material completely inside out.
  6. Let's get a green friend. We start with the paws, and it is necessary to constantly distribute the padding polyester over the entire paw so that there are no accumulations.
  7. We stuff the body of the toy. Use a blind stitch to close the gap for stuffing.
  8. All that remains is to sew on the yellow eyes and the toy is ready. You can wear beads or tie a ribbon around your neck. This will make the crocodile look kinder.
