Detailed instructions for sewing pillowcases and pillows consist of several points. Initially, we will prepare a set of materials and tools:

  • Sewing machine. If you don’t have one, you can sew the pillow by hand;
  • Sewing kit – needle, thread, scissors, ruler and chalk;
  • Any type of filler - padding polyester, padding polyester, batting or other material;
  • Unnecessary jeans.

We begin the work by removing the trouser belt with ordinary scissors. Find the inner seam on the trouser legs and cut each one along the length of this seam. The result is relatively large pieces of fabric. The middle seam acts as a decorative element. The average pillow size is 45x45 centimeters. Cut out a couple of squares with 45 cm edges. Be sure to leave a seam allowance. Further actions:

  1. We fold the material in layers, wrong side out.
  2. We sew the perimeter evenly with a machine stitch or work by hand.
  3. Leave about fifteen centimeters of space on one side.
  4. Turn the pillowcase inside out and iron it. We pay special attention to the corners.
  5. Place a pillow or filling inside.
  6. Using a blind stitch, sew up the gap.
  7. We decorate the product by sewing flounces around the perimeter. You can decorate the pillow with a bow, but do not process the edges, but make a fringe. Part of the product is sometimes decorated with rhinestones or embroidery.

Denim patchwork pillow for a chair - tailoring features

A chair cushion made from old jeans is made similarly according to the instructions above. It may have a different shape, such as a circle or rectangle. But the principle of operation remains the same. Three points need to be taken into account:

  1. Volumetric decorative elements will interfere, so it is better to decorate the product with embroidery or lace stripes.
  2. There is no need to stuff the pillow tightly. A thin layer of padding polyester is sufficient. Otherwise, it will not be comfortable to sit on it.
  3. The pattern is made according to the shape of the seat. Place tracing paper or film on the chair and outline it with a marker. We get a pillow pattern. Add five centimeters to the allowance.
