  1. To make the front part of the product we use the patchwork technique.Let's take four different fabrics to choose from and prepare the details. First you need to cut out the fragments.
  2. To make a pattern on paper, draw a square with edges of seven centimeters. We cut out the part and apply it to the wrong side of the material. Using a pencil, outline the edges of the paper layout. We take the pattern and add half a centimeter on each side of the figure. Re-draw the detail.
  3. Similarly, we draw elements on the three remaining fabrics.
  4. Let's cut out four fragments of the front side of the potholder.
  5. We will decorate the darker colored part with embroidery – a white snowflake. For embroidery we use either simple thick threads or a special knitting floss thread.
  6. We sew the squares in pairs, then connect the two halves of the product together.
  7. We place the embroidered fragment on the wrong side, cover it with the front side of the second square and pin the elements together. We assemble the remaining two parts in the same way.
  8. Sew the left edge using a needle back stitch. Let's open the resulting parts and iron them with an iron.
  9. We combine two fragments of the front side. We place one part of the two squares on the wrong side. Cover it with the front part of the second half. We pin the parts together and sew them together.
  10. We get an equilateral square from four different materials. Carefully iron all seams and the fabric itself.
  11. In order for the potholder to be heat-resistant, it is necessary to put several layers of dense material into it. You can use a double or triple layer. For the reverse side of the product we take a plain material. Cut out a square the same size as the front side and fillings.
  12. We place a plain square face down on a flat surface, then a layer of insulation and the front side made using the patchwork technique. She should lie face up.
  13. We fasten all layers with pins. To make a beautiful edging, we use bias tape from any material that matches the color.
  14. To do this, cut the fabric into strips three centimeters wide. The length should be equal to the sides of the product. We apply the binding to each edge one by one and baste it by machine or by hand. The seam should be slightly lower than the stitching.
  15. Turn the binding inside out and hem it using small blind stitches. We do the same with each side of the potholder.
  16. All that remains is to sew on a beautiful loop so that the New Year’s accessory can be hung in a prominent place. At the place where the loop will be sewn, we will make a cute bow or other decoration to the taste of the master. The festive potholder is ready!
