Sew a peacock from felt with your own hands: pattern, diagrams and description

A felt toy in the shape of a peacock is not only a bright and exciting entertainment item for a baby. It has a positive effect on the development of the child. Working with small soft parts stimulates fine motor skills of children's hands. Multi-colored fragments have a positive effect on visual perception. The baby gets to know colors while playing. When forming the playing field, we will make an envelope into which the child will have to put away the removable parts after each game. This will help teach your baby to be neat in a playful way.

The toy is made entirely of felt. Felt is the most optimal material for sewing children's educational games. It is inexpensive, safe for health, and does not cause allergic reactions. A big plus of felt is how easy it is to clean. You can remove dirt by hand or machine washing with a dry cloth. Those who love handicrafts have long recognized the benefits of this fabric. Toys made from it are durable and difficult to tear or break.

Felt peacock - pattern, necessary materials

The peacock pattern is quite simple. It consists of a base - these are two squares that will be sewn together. Small parts:

  • Peacock feet – 2;
  • Bird body – 1;
  • Feathers – 6;
  • There are 12 color circles, a circle of each color will be in duplicate.

Initially, transfer the pattern to the fabric and carefully cut out all the fragments. Then we place small parts on the base to roughly calculate the position of the bird. It will be useful at work:

  • Paper for sketching and creating a pattern for an educational game;
  • Velcro;
  • Glue gun;
  • Dark marker;
  • Scissors;
  • Eye for a toy - can be purchased at any craft and sewing store;
  • Threads to match the color of felt;
  • Medium thickness needle;
  • Plain felt for the base - two sheets;
  • Felt of different colors for small elements;
  • Template for creating a pattern. You can find it yourself on the Internet and use the program to select the desired size of the toy.

Fabric applique toy - DIY peacock

Let's look at a detailed description of the process of sewing a toy. Let's start creating a background image on the main sheet of material:

  1. First we sew on the bird's legs. Let's move on to working with the tail.
  2. Sew on all the tail feathers.
  3. We secure the peacock's body.
  4. Next to each tail feather, at a short distance from the end of the feather, we sew Velcro. This will be the center of the removable round elements. One side of the Velcro is attached. To make it stick better, before starting sewing, drop a small drop of glue from a gun under each fragment.
  5. We sew circles of the same color together. Each part contains two fragments.
  6. On one side of each circle we fix the second half of the Velcro. Again, first use glue, then start sewing.
  7. Having secured all the elements, we move on to working with the base. Attach the back of the envelope and stitch it to the illustrated side. A loop stitch is used. Three sides are sewn together. One side is trimmed along the edges. The baby will put the mugs in this envelope after playing.
  8. Glue the bird's eye and get a ready-made educational game.

The cute peacock is suitable for younger children. It will make a great birthday gift. Due to the brightness of the colors and the properties of the felt, the toy looks like a painting.
