Cape in one piece, knitted with knitting needles: diagram, pattern and step-by-step description

A cape is a sleeveless outerwear option. It is comfortable to wear and suitable for all occasions in life. If you knit it from woolen and bulky yarn, it will be an excellent option for walking in the cold season. An openwork cape in gold or silver will add elegance to your evening look. By choosing more restrained and calm colors, you can knit a cape that is also suitable for office style.

Necessary materials:

  1. Cashmere and merino wool yarn (300m/25g) – 50g.
  2. Straight and circular knitting needles No. 3.5.
  3. Button.
  4. Needle and thread.
  5. The size of the finished product is 32-36.

Stages of work

Cast on 135 stitches. Next, proceed according to the scheme:

  • 1 rub. – purl loops;
  • 2 r. – facial loops;
  • 3-9r. – knit with an openwork pattern according to pattern A. Repeat rapport 33 times;
  • 10-77 rub. – knit according to pattern B. Repeat the pattern 7 times, each of which is marked using markings.In this case, repeat 3 times from rows 1 to 4, 1 time from 13 to 17, 3 times 19-22 rows and 1 time from rows 31 to 77;
  • 78 rub. – 261 loops. If it becomes inconvenient to knit on straight needles, then you should switch to circular ones. Next, each segment is knitted separately according to pattern C, while the edge loops remain on the knitting needles.
  • From the 97th row, knit 17 stitches on the left side, knit yarn overs together with the next knit stitch. By analogy, tie each of the segments of the openwork pattern.

In the next purl row, continue knitting on all loops, that is, on 261, and also knit yarn overs with the next loop.

Knit the next two rows with facial loops, while adding 2 loops. After this, knit another 6 rows with an openwork pattern according to pattern A. In the last row, decrease 1 loop twice.

On the last row, cast on 10 loops for the border, which is knitted according to pattern D. In row 505, cast off all loops and finish knitting.

One piece cardigan cape

Cardigan Cape

This version of the cape is knitted very simply, even a novice craftswoman can handle it. In this case, it will be knitted with a mesh pattern made of fine yarn. By analogy, you can knit the same cape with a denser pattern from thick yarn.

For knitting you will need:

  1. 900 g of yarn (105 m / 50 g).
  2. Circular knitting needles No. 7.
  3. The size of the finished canvas is 120 cm by 100 cm.

Progress

Before you start knitting the cape itself, it is better to knit a sample in order to accurately determine the number of loops.

For greater density, it is worth knitting not in 1, but in 2 threads.

To start knitting, cast on an even number of stitches. The process then looks like this:

  • 1 rub. - purl loops.
  • 2 r.– yarn over, knit the next two loops together as a knit stitch, yarn over, knit two loops together as a knit stitch. Continue alternating until the end of the row.
  • 3 r. – knit 2 loops together as a purl.
  • 4 rub. – 1 knit stitch, yarn over, knit two loops as one knit stitch, yarn over, two together as a knit stitch*. Alternate from * to * until the end of the row.
  • 5 rub. – 1 purl loop, *2 times knit 2 loops together as a purl*. From * to * knit until the end of the row. At the end, knit 1 purl loop.

Then continue alternating rows 2 to 5 until the required length of the product is reached.

Assembly

Fold the finished fabric along the long side and sew the edges up towards the fold. The long side is the basis for future sleeves. The distance between the seam and the fold should be at least 20 cm. Moreover, the fuller the hands, the greater this distance should be.

To make the finished cape warmer, you can knit full sleeves. To do this, cast on the loops from the armhole onto circular knitting needles and knit them to the required length.
