Chamonix knitted dress: diagram, pattern and step-by-step description

Chamonix dress is the choice of real fashionistas. Its peculiarity is the presence of a yoke that needs to be knitted across. In addition, the technique involves creating braids, plaits and other original patterns. Beginning needlewomen will not be able to knit such a dress; a certain amount of experience is important here. First you need to knit a yoke, and then continue further knitting from there. You can knit all the parts separately and then connect them. It is the latter method that will be discussed further.

Necessary materials

To work you will need the following:

  • light-colored threads – 550 g;
  • brown threads – 50 g;
  • knitting needles No. 4.5;
  • short circular knitting needles No. 4.5.

Creating a backrest

Procedure:

  1. On needles No. 4, cast on 95 loops of beige yarn in a cross pattern.
  2. Tie an elastic band 10 cm high.
  3. Next comes knitting in stockinette stitch.
  4. To form a side bevel, you need to close an 8x1 loop on both sides in every 10th row from the plank. You will get 78 loops.
  5. When knitting a 51 cm fabric, close 1x4 loops on both sides for a short bevel.
  6. In every 2nd row cast off 4x1 stitches.
  7. Having received a fabric of 55 cm, bind off the remaining 62 loops for the edge of the yoke.

The knitting pattern is identical to that used for the back, only after 22.5 cm from the bar, follow the following recommendations:

  • Knit the edge 19 loops using the front method.
  • Next 8 loops purlwise.
  • 6 loops on the bias, 8 loops on the back, 11 loops on the front edge.

Sleeve

Procedure:

  1. Use brown threads. Cast on 42 stitches using a cross cast-on.
  2. Tie an elastic band 10 cm high.
  3. In the last row of knitting, add 2 loops.
  4. Then follow the following pattern: edge stitch, 15 knit stitches, 3 purl loops, 6 bias loops, 3 purl loops, 15 knit stitches, edge stitch.
  5. To bevel the sleeves, you need to add 8x1 p. on both sides in every 10th row, in the 8th row 8x1 p. and in the 6th row 2x1 m. Knit everything with stockinette stitch.
  6. A short raglan bevel is performed after 36 cm.
  7. When the sleeve height is 40 cm, bind off the remaining 44 loops for the edge of the placket.

Yoke with braid patterns

The yoke is knitted crosswise. Moreover, you should start working in the middle of the back. Procedure:

  • Cast on 44 stitches on knitting needles (using brown yarn).
  • Knitting is performed as follows: 1 edge loop, 3 purl loops, 6 oblique loops, 4 purl loops, 16 center oblique loops, 4 purl loops, 6 oblique loops, 3 purl loops, 1 edge knitting.

Assembling the dress

Procedure:

  1. Make short raglan seams and go along the sides and sleeves.
  2. Sew the first and last rows of the yoke together. Fold the resulting seam in half and set aside the middle of the right edge.
  3. Secure the right edge to the edge of the dress yoke. Only the seam should be in the middle of the back.
  4. Using beige yarn, cast on 64 stitches on circular needles along the left edge of the yoke. Press the edge slightly.
  5. Close everything in a ring, and for the strap, tie an elastic band 4 cm high.
  6. At the end of the work, close all the loops.

What to wear with a Chamonix dress

This type of clothing can be classified as universal, as the following wardrobe items look good with it:

  • sneakers;
  • short winter boots;
  • high heels;
  • ankle boots;
  • leather jackets;
  • oversized coat;
  • jackets;
  • poncho;
  • parks.

The following accessories will help complement the look:

  • massive jewelry;
  • scarf;
  • a cap;
  • clutch;
  • belt.

The Chamonix dress is not recommended for plus-size girls, as voluminous knitting can visually enlarge the silhouette and make the figure disproportionate. But slender ladies will be able to wear such a dress of completely different lengths.
